OH LOOK, DDROX POSTED ANOTHER PRE-EMPTIVE ARTICLE PROPOSAL WHEN HE HAS LIKE 6 IN HIS ARTICLE QUEUE ALREADY! WHAT A SHOCKER!!!!

We really don't have enough articles on the spin-offs. Well, here goes nothing. In the vein of this 6-month old article, I'd like to write about the music of the games I found to have the best soundtrack (and basically the best everything), the Mystery Dungeon games and specifically the Explorers sub-series. My god this game had an amazing soundtrack, from the lively Treasure Town theme to my favorite dungeon, Amp Plains, to anything that plays in the future, to the slew of emotional pieces at the end, Explorers has more than enough to write about. Like, its been at least 9 months since my last play of that game (before the US release of PSMD) and I still remember the Treasure Town theme and Dialga's Fight To The Finish! like I heard them yesterday.

As far as format, there are chapters, but there are too many of them for a section on each. Luckily, most of them fall into nice groups for me. Here is an initial list of the pieces I'd like to discuss in general groups
    1. Ambiance - "Title Theme"/"Main Menu Theme", "What Would You Do If?", "Bubbles Shining Over the Sea", "The Time Gears"
    2. Town + Characters - "Wigglytuff's Guild", "Treasure Town", "Sharpedo Bluff", "Guildmaster Wigglytuff", "A Sinister Smell (Team Skull's Theme)"
    3. Pre-Future Dungeons - "Beach Cave", "Mt. Bristle", "Steam Cave", "Crystal Crossing"
    4. Boss Fights - "We Won't Lose!", "Wanted!"
    5. Dungeon Progression - "Amp Plains", "Far Amp Plains", "We're Surrounded!"
    6. The Future - "Chasm Cave", "Dark Hill", "Dusk Forest"
    7. End-Game Music - "Hidden Land"/"Hidden Highland", "Temporal Tower"/"Temporal Spire", "Dialga's Fight to the Finish! (Vs Primal Dialga)"
    8. The stuff that follows - "I Don't Want to Say Goodbye (Grovyle's Sacrifice)"/"A Wish For Peace"
    9. Post-Game - "Sky Peak Final Pass", "Blizzard Island Medley", "Palkia's Onslaught! (Vs Palkia)", "Dark Crater", "Ghost Battle (Vs Dusknoir/Darkrai)"

This is a lot, but most of them will be talked about in combination with others, as the general theme of this article will be how every single piece in this game builds on the last and emphasizes the plot. This game's music is some of the best I've seen to emotionally pull me into a situation and change as said situation escalates. Also I'll probably completely scrap this list when I do it because that's what always happens when I make a plan.

Due to time restrictions, this won't be starting for at least 3 weeks. I just was listening to the PMD OST now and didn't want to forget.

I absolutely LOVE the music from the Mystery Dungeon games, with my favourite track being 'Run Away' from Red & Blue Rescue Team.
Mewmore did an amazing remix of it aswell:

    It's just so relaxing :)

As much as I'd love to include PMD1, I just know PMD2 better and there is soooo much to write about. I have never played PMD1 through and the only tracks I would recognize out of context are Run Away, Sky Tower, and Defy the Legends (all great pieces btw).

I think sticking to one game per article like this is sensible. Exceptions could apply when say you focus on songs by a composer, or a song that appears in multiple games.

Overall I think the idea is fine, ddrox. No rush to approve it seeing as you said you have other articles already, haha, but I like it. The plan does seem like you're covering a loooot of song though - would it make sense as a multi-part article?

Side note - featuring remixes/covers would probably be best when doing articles about a particular song, or as its very own article which would be perfectly fine and if anything something we could do more of (that is, articles featuring fanworks by people both on and not-on PC).

There is soooo much about this game I'd love to talk about. Heck, I'd even be up for a plot analysis, but that is a story for another day.

The message I really want to get across with this game is how the music tells the story and shows you what emotions the characters are feeling, as well as how the music of the game all ties together. I think for now splitting it in 2 parts would be good if we do (I am not opposed to this). The first would contain some of the opening pieces, the future dungeons, the major dungeons between the future and the Hidden Land, the End-Game music, Dusknoir Battle theme, and the after-music, in the order they occur. This would probably result in 18ish songs if I decide to expand the future, the same as the RBY article. It would still be shorter, as many of them MUST be talked about together, i.e. Hidden Land with Hidden Highland. The second (which I would probably write first anyway) would focus more on the town/characters, dungeons, more dungeons, and possibly more dungeons :).

Ah yes, someone has written an article about one of my strongest loves: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky.

It is my opinion that never before has the music of a Pokemon game been as masterfully crafted as this one. From the very beginning of this game to long into the post-game, you can find yourself being swept away by just about every track that strokes your ears. Combine that with rich storytelling, strategic gameplay, and well-crafted and beloved characters, and you have a recipe for a wonderful game.

I actually started a fresh playthrough a few weeks ago, and boy did I thank myself for doing it. What I love about the music is, as you said, it conveys emotion in a way that not many games have. When you beat the game for the first time, you are almost guaranteed to cry. I've beat the game multiple times knowing what to expect, and I can't help shedding a few tears to this day. No other game has pulled me in emotionally like that.

If you haven't played this game before, I highly recommend finding a copy somewhere and play it. It's not the same type of game as the main series ones, but it provides story elements that you can't replicate in other games.

Oh dude the music in this game is literally my favorite in the whole Pokemon series, not joking. It's also my favorite Pokemon game of all time considering I've played it over again at least 3 or 4 times. I find this game highly underrated and the music as well. I'd definitely give it a recommendation to play if you haven't already.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I've played PMD2 more times than I can count and love it's music, hence the reasoning behind this.

As far as progress is concerned, I currently have not started due to not having computer access. So I'll get back to you on this.

    BUMP!

This article is nearly drafted... But it is saved locally on my laptop, which is in the shop until further notice (by next week). Assuming it comes back with memory intact, this will be ready to edit Saturday. I actually want to do the cover myself on this one, I do know how to photoshop (see my sig banner). That was three consecutive run-on sentences.

UPDATE: I've scrapped splitting this into 2 and it will now be one long-ass article. Many themes were lost in the consolidation of these articles. Whatever, this will be done soonish
