The Dubious Disk (and other Trade Evolutions)

We all know about Porygon-Z. One of the strangest pokemon in the entire game, it comes from a Glitched version of Porygon-2. There's still some resemblance, but what exactly is ON the Dubious Disk that makes Porygon-2 turn into THAT?

On the note of other Trade Evolutions (Held-Item or not), what exactly happens to a pokemon in the process of trading that makes it evolve?

I'm not looking for facts or anything. I just want to know everyone's theories on how Trade Evolutions work. :P

@Any Moderators: Feel free to move this thread if it belongs somewhere else. I wasn't sure whether to post this in Trivia or PGC, so I don't care if it gets moved. :P

The energies the Pokémon are put through in the process of trading causes their hold item to bond with them, sometimes resulting in a complete change of the Pokémon's physique, abilities and strengths.

    Something like that, maybe?

Perhaps, but what about Pokemon that don't hold items? I figure that Scizor becomes from the Metal Coat fusing with Scyther (and Steelix, too, for that matter), but why do some pokemon completely mutate, (eg; Machamp growing two more arms) without any held items?

The best I can think of for those is energies mutating their forms slightly. Karrablast and Shelmet is pretty much the same thing, too - they both react with each other as they pass.

It says right in the Pokedex that Escavalier is simply a Karrablast wearing the Shelmet's armour (and Accelegor is an unarmoured Shelmet), so that's easy to explain. I wouldn't say that those two are much like the other Trade Evolution Mutations.

Well, I can't really see them stopping halfway to their trainers, getting out of their Pokéballs and swapping clothes. I forgot about their Pokédex entries, sorry. I haven't played Black for weeks. I should really know that - I have a shiny Accelgor. XD

I can't imagine it either, but apparently, it happens (or so says the Pokedex). It's not worded EXACTLY like that, but it says that Escavalier IS wearing the armour of a Shelmet, so I assumed that it works that way. :P

Edit: It only says that in the White Pokedex, so you wouldn't've seen it in Black. :P

There may be new software installed in the Dubious Disc that may have caused Porygon2 to evolve into Porygon-Z; however, it has been glitched up, causing Porygon-Z to be glitched up in turn.

I know this. :P What I was asking was what your opinions were on what is ON the disk/what is was going to be used for. What did Silph Co. want to do with Porygon2 that caused them to create the Dubious Disk?

I thought the dubious disk wasn't produced by silph co. It says on black: "the producer is unknown"

Up-Grade: A transparent device filled with all sorts of data. It was produced by Silph Co.

Dubious Disc: A transparent device overflowing with dubious data. Its producer is unknown.

My mistake. I WAS thinking of the Up-Grade. Still, that adds another topic of discussion. Who do you think made the Dubious Disk?

Could it have been one of Team Rocket's failed experiments, perhaps? Or maybe another project of Charon's.

Perhaps... Still no idea on what its purpose was, though?

The Up-Grade was originally created by Silph Co. to give Porygon more functions (such as more default emotions) and it worked. Somewhere else, another organization wanted to take this a step further (they wanted Porygon2 to explore other dimensions) and created the Dubious Disc. However, the project still had de-bugging to do, and the organization was behind schedule in its development. Regardless, the Dubious Disc succeeded, but only to an extent: this caused Porygon2 to evolve into Porygon-Z, but Porygon-Z was glitched up due to the Dubious Disc not being fully de-bugged.
