    [PokeCommunity.com] The Backyard Sports Series
    Backyard Sports Wiki said:
"Backyard Sports is a series of video games released for both consoles and computers. The series is best known for starring kid-sized versions of popular professional sports stars, such as Albert Pujols, Paul Pierce, Barry Bonds, Tim Duncan, Clint Mathis, Kevin Garnett, Tom Brady, Alex Rodriguez, Joe Thornton and Andy Macdonald. The Backyard Sports series is licensed by all the leading professional US sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLS).

The series includes Backyard Baseball, Backyard Basketball, Backyard Football (American football), Backyard Soccer, Backyard Hockey (Ice hockey), and Backyard Skateboarding. In the games, players form a team consisting of Backyard Kids and pro players, which they take through a "Backyard League" season, attempting to become the champions. Players can create their own athletes, starting in Backyard Football (1999). Another aspect of the games is the use of Power-Ups, allowing players to gain "super-abilities." For instance, "Super Dunk" allows a basketball player to make an incredible dunk from nearly anywhere on the court, "Leap Frog" allows a football player to jump over the entire defensive line, and "Ice Cream Truck" causes the other team to be completely distracted for a brief period of time."
Not going to lie, I wanted to make a thread about this for awhile now but just haven't had the Internet access to do it. That being said, the Backyard Sports series are a huge trip down memory lane and are a big reason why I am a gamer today. I have a lot of fond memories being a manager playing with my older brother on Backyard Baseball and using the Aluminum bat...although that was basically cheating lol.

Hopefully I'm not sounding like an old geezer here, but I'm sure a lot of other people have played this series back in the day;they were quite popular in the early 2000s. So, what Backyard Sports games did you own? Which ones were your favorite? Who were your favorite players to play as? Were there any power ups in the games that you liked to use? What are your opinion of the old Backyard Sports games compared to the new ones? Feel free to discuss all things Backyard Sports related here!

While I did not own any of the Backyard Sports games, I have played a few of them. The ones I have played are Backyard Baseball (two different versions), Backyard Soccer (a pre 2001 version), and Backyard Basketball. Of the Backyard Kids, two of my favorites were Pablo Sanchez and Billy Jean Blackwood. Those two always ended up on my teams. For favorite pro players to play as, my favorites included Jose Conseco, Mark McGwire, Ken Griffey, Jr., Carlos Valderrama, and Zach Thornton. Since Backyard Basketball only had two pro players in it, the other three members of my team were custom characters. The three custom characters I used had the nicknames of Stretch, Slick, and Booger.

You know, just the other day I was thinking about sports games and then I was like, "What ever happened to Backyard Sports?!" They were everywhere when I was a kid, haha. I'm not a sports game person though, or even a sports person period really, so I never owned or played any of them.

I remember playing Backyard Baseball on the good o'l Gamecube. Just trying to home run the ball and hit either the UFO in the farm level or the beach goers on the pier level. It was good times, very good times.

The only one I ever really got into was Backyard Baseball for the GBA. Oh man, with the amount of time I spent in the car, I pumped so many hours into that thing it's ridiculous, haha. It did make a lot of trips go by quicker, and I think it holds the record for being one of the only sports games I was actually fond of.

I had Backyard Baseball for the PC in one of those collection discs with multiple games. It was packed in with a Sly Fox game and Freddi Fish. Man, I was young; I only vaguely remember any of those games and I certainly didn't know what I was doing at the time...

Never played them, but I've played the demo and failed a lot haha.

Although, I was pretty surprised to see this thread.

I owned Backyard Skatebording. It was a favorite of mine when I was a lot younger. I'm not sure what happened to my copy though. It basically disappeared after My laptop broke. I kinda miss the game to be honest.
