Have you ever been put off by the AI's stupidity in the games in a way where you were anticipated them to do something smart or predictable, and the unexpectedness of there stupid actions ruin your whole strategy? It happens to me all the time in the battle factory, example: mine: heracross theirs: marowak I use counter expecting him to use earthquake or bonemerang, he uses icy wind throwing off the unpredictability of my strategy with his own.EDIT: That was a really bad example but that's probably because I have the memory of a ..... someone with poor memory. Perhaps the AI is not stupid rather so intelligent that he can predict that I'm going to predict that he's going to do the most practical thing and counter's that with something that loathes all forms of logic!:cross-eye Did I just say the same thing three different ways?

EDIT: In hindsight what I said made no sense so here's a less stupid version for you all: mine: golem his: kingdra, I use protect for obvious reasons, he uses flail like at full health and gets my hopes up so I use earthquake praying he repeats his previous actions and he OHKO's me with a hydro pump.

The AI in the Battle Frontier always knows what you do, and uses its move accordingly. That's how it's been ever since Emerald. The AI is stupid.

But sometimes, you get lucky and it tries to Earthquake a flying-type or something like that. That's when I scream "**** YEAH!"

The AI in the Battle Frontier is badass, imo. It's nice not to be fighting against a string of dumbass trainers who don't know what they're doing, even if it is infuriating when it predicts your moves and fires them straight back at you. But that makes it a challenge for me, so I like it. (Also, it's not stupid to be unpredictable.)

Well, 1st gen's trainers were really stupid. I got Blaine using Super Potion three times on a full HP Pokemon.
Thanks god they improved it in the new games.

I know, the gym leaders were so bad, that misty would spam recover for her first turns, i would spam tail whip and then OHKO. good times, good times.

I dunno an AI who tells his kingdra to use rain dance twice in a row on a lanturn doesn't seem too smart to me.

It's not that the AI is stupid, but...adjustable. Even in R/B/Y, fighting a wild Rattatta on Route 1, it would strategically use 2 Tail Whips before using Tackle to OHKO any Pokemon under Lv.5. You see, the AI in the game adjusts as you progress. Early Trainers use redundant, and sometimes stupid attacks (Ember on Squirtle...wtf), but the further you go, the more advanced they become (Dragonite using Rain Dance followed by Thunder on Lapras, paralyzed previously by Dragonair's DragonBreath.) Sometimes the AI glitches and performs an unwanted/idiotic attack (Earthquake on Pidgeot...no damage). But, for the most part, it knows how to play against the player.

One time, I was doing a double battle with this person with a Plusle and Minun, and They made the Minum used a electric attack on Plusle and it died.

The saddest part about this is that sometimes PEOPLE can actually be that stupid...Seen it on PBR wifi.

Sometimes, it's a real person. Other times, its a bot.

The AI adjusts to whatever you throw at it, and it does it well. My friend, who abuses Pokésav, created a team of Lv. 100 Pokémon and gave them all 999 stats with No Guard and OHKO moves and led them into a Battle Tower run. About 28 battles in, trainers began appearing that were resistant against the OHKO moves (for example: Gengar with Levitate resists Guillotine, Horn Drill, and Fissure).

That wild Staravia I fought on Platinum today didn't seem dumb at all. First both it and my (at that time still underleveled) Scyther barely survived a Wing Attack. The next round, it unexpectedly used Quick Attack and killed my Scyther. Then, I sent out my Kricketune and changed my mind, I didn't want to defeat it anymore (Kricketune was already overleveled enough), Sing missed and it used Endeavor. At that point, I became frightened and fled, since Kricketune was my last Pokemon.

The AI is continuously improving with every new game that comes out. Remember, really smart people are creating these game. Of course they would know how to strategically counter your advances without breaking a sweat.

I only got so far in the Battle Frontier. The AI is indeed hard. :<

The AI isn't stupid, when the AI is using Wobbuffet it always know to use counter or mirror coat. But when you use it against the computer you're like guaranteed to use the wrong one.

In almost every game I play against the AI, whether it's Wii, PlayStation, DS etc. I keep getting the feeling that the AI doesn't make it's decision before it has seen mine. Then I start feeling it is unfair and stop playing. Dang.
