Hello, i need some specifics on how this thing works. I found multiple sights that contradict each other in regards to surfing pikachu. You need to have pikachu in the r-2 master ball cup, do you have to use it in battle at all, can it just be in the party of 6, or do you need it in the party of 3? Also, some say it only works with your own team, can i just take pikachu and let the rest of the team be rentals? Grinding 6 pokemons to lvl 100 doesnt sound all that fun, so if i can use rentals that would be great.

I thought you get a surfing pikachu from breeding with a certain pokemon, could be wrong though.

What I did was use a full team of 6 from my game, directly from the cartridge. You don't have to use the Yellow Version Pikachu; any will do (I got Surf on my Yellow Pikachu first, then got it on a couple of Red Pikachus). I don't recall whether you can use some rentals or not, but I would avoid doing so to be safe. Definitely don't use a registered team. Pikachu definitely needs to be in the team of 3 for the final battle; I don't recall if if needs to be in the team of 3 for the others or not.

The trick is that you don't actually need a full team of Pokemon to beat the Prime Cup R2. Mewtwo + one or two others should be sufficient, because Amnesia Mewtwo is super overpowered. Training it from level 70 to 100 via the Dodrio GB tower isn't nearly as bad as it sounds, and if you're willing to duplicate Rare Candies (and perhaps vitamins) with the Missingno glitch, it makes it that much easier. What I did was used my Red team (because my Yellow Pikachu was only in the mid 20s level-wise at the time), and trained Mewtwo, Blastoise (my starter), and one or two others to level 100 (without glitches). (I dragged along a spare junk mon or two to fill my Hall of Fame, but never brought those into battle.) Each battle consisted of sending out Amnesia Mewtwo, switching to Blastoise, Charizard, or Zapdos if things became dire for some reason or if I thought my opponent was going to put my Mewtwo to sleep or freeze it, and sweeping my opponent. I think I only lost a Pokemon in one of the battles, so it worked pretty well.

I know it isnt just yellow pika that get surf, but im curently playing yellow. Thanks for the advice, i dont feel like grinding to lvl 100 with multiple pokemons so Mewtwo and perhaps Zapdos will do. I guess i will do the training in-game, as gb tower doesnt work on emulator.

If you're playing on an emulator, why not save yourself the time and use some sort of cheat to obtain a Surfin' 'Chu?

Of course, if you're after something legitimate, that's respectable~ I just think it's more acceptable to play around with things like cheats on emualtors. If we were talking about the consoles, I likely wouldn't see the endeavor worthwhile enough, which is unfortunate...

I could have used cheats, true. But i wanted to to it legit, besides, i dont typically do cheats on emulator, as some of them can have a damaging effect on the game.
Yeah, i lvled up mewtwo to lvl 100, brought along zapdos lvl 65, and Pikachu. Mewtwo in general swept pokemon stadium with little trouble, except getting killed by lucky ohk moves, freeze, paralyzis and wrap combo. Slowbro was the worst enemy i think, and anything else that carried thunder wave.
Luckily, my lvl 45 pikachu is faster than a lvl 100 slowbro, so it saw some use whenever those came up. Zapdos did some damage with thunder against water, but my god amnesia mewtwo is just ridiculous and generally swept with ease.
