soft resetting/resetting

I've soft reset when I get mad abt losing in the battle frontier, lmfao. But, for shinies? No. I'm not a shiny hunter, really. I can't really soft reset in the new games, anyway, because my R button is broken. :(

I don't have enough patience for soft resetting for anything. The last time I even attempted it was back in gen 3 trying to reset for a shiny Rayquaza, and after maybe an hour or two, I gave up with it. I got maybe a couple hundred attempts in, but with the odds of getting a shiny back being 1/8192, I knew it might be days or weeks until I got a shiny, so I swore off SRing forever haha.

Once and once only: I really wanted my Pikachu in Let's Go to be female so I could name it after my partner. It took me three tries, so that was fine. Otherwise...yeah, I've not got the patience for it. If I'm going to grind I need guaranteed, tangible results by the end of it, and with soft resetting I could be doing it literally forever and still never get what I'm after...I see horror stories on the internet about it took one person five years to get a shiny Mewtwo in Leaf Green and...yeaaaah. Definitely not worth the effort.

I've soft reset for the right Nature + Ability in the past.

Thank goodness with Sword and Shield it's not necessary anymore xD.

I hope all these improvements (Mints, Capsules, Bottle Caps etc) all return in some form in every future mainline Pokemon game.

the only time I used soft reset my whole life was hunting shiny chimchar in platinum. it was actually pretty crazy, I got it in less than a thousand attempt!! tried to do it with the event drifloon as well but lost my patience, that one took over 10,000 soft reset. dang, look at me just wasting time for that drifloon :((

I tried to SR a Modest Porygon back in Platinum and accidentally got a Shiny instead after less than a dozen resets.

I also SR'd a Shiny Squirtle (HeartGold), Omanyte (Diamond), and Eevee (VC Gold), all intentional. I think I spent a few days trying to SR the Squirtle in LeafGreen until I realized that it would be faster in HGSS where I got it after roughly 6 resets! Omanyte and Eevee took longer (can't remember how long, though).

I think I also SR'd a non-Shiny female Fennekin for one of my X playthroughs.

I tried SRing for a Shiny Tyrogue in VC Gold for a while, as well as Ho-Oh in HeartGold and Volcarona in Black (albeit briefly), but never had any luck. Also tried SRing for a Shiny Burmy via Honey Trees before switching to HGSS's special Headbutt tree (where I eventually got my Shiny male).

I'll often SR for a nature and respectable IVs (i.e. 25+ in the ones I really need). But recently I've gotten really into breeding, so a lot of SR once I have the right nature and ability. Its cool, I read / watch something else whilst I do it so its not that boring.

I think I've soft reset for a shiny legendary before but it was years ago, it might have been either Rayquaza or Mewtwo iirc. I gave up pretty soon though, cause shinies were super hard to get back then. Other than that, I've only soft reset in the E4 or Battle Frontier haha, mostly from rage quits!

I've done it a few times, shiny starters, legendaries, etc. Haven't had any luck with SRing since like 2007 tho lol.

I've done it on a few occasions for specific genders. Though I've never done it for a shiny, I don't think I'd have the patience for that lol.

I don't soft reset much, but Ho-Oh in Pokemon Sun and Moon I did because it was the Rainbow Pokemon and we were in the Rainbow Region. I also really love shiny Ho-Oh because it is the true Gold and Silver pokemon. And just to answer, yes, yes I did get Shiny Ho-Oh :D As for how many, no idea, I found it best not to keep track as it just makes it worse. I will say that I am almost certain it was less than 200 Resets.

I am also currently Soft Resetting for Latias using the Eon Ticket in Omega Ruby. Which I haven't gotten yet, but I've maybe only reset 50 times.

I have tried to Soft Reset for Ultra Beasts as well, but I grew board of that, but will eventually do it again. As well as Soft Reset for Latios in Ultra Sun.

I don't recall soft resetting anymore than the times mentioned above. Other than when I used to lose to Elite 4 or accidentally knock out a Legend or run out of balls to throw.

In Pokemon XY I soft reset the shadows in Glittering Cave to shiny hunt. And I soft reset when masuda methoding and hatching each batch of 5 eggs.

i soft-resetted for six hours straight for a shiny giratina in pokemon platinum. i tried again with azelf thinking i'd get the same kind of luck but i gave up after a month or two of trying. not really interested in sr'ing again after that.
