So if the Fire Starters are based off of the Chinese Zodiac...

...then what are they gonna do for the horse when they have Ponyta/Rapidash running around?

If Rapidash is basically the epitome of a "fire horse," then what do you guys expect Pokémon will do when they need to make a horse-based fire starter? Zebra is also out for those of you thinking they'd choose a wild relative of the horse, as they've already made Blitzle and Zebstrika.

My opinion? It would be cool if they could do something based off of the Trojan Horse, like a Fire/Ghost type horse-looking thing, where its "body" is actually a puppet being controlled by a slightly smaller horse Pokémon inside. That's just a rough idea, though.

As a matter of fact, what do you guys think they'll do for the rest of the Chinese Zodiac fire starters, if they choose to continue with that theme.

    So far, we have:

    Dragon: Charmander
    Rat: Cyndaquil
    Rooster: Torchic
    Monkey: Chimchar
    Pig: Tepig
    Dog: Fennekin

So, they have the Tiger, the Ox, the Snake, the Rabbit, the Horse, and the Goat/Sheep left to do.

    Discuss. Please.

Crap. Meant to put this in the "Pokémon General" forum. Can a mod please move it for me?

I would love if they did a snake entirely made of fire. I doubt it would happen, but it would look awesome.

I mean they had no problem making two fire monkeys (infernape, simisear.) I'm sure they will have no problem making two fire horses. A lot of Pokemon are practically the same. I personally think a fire ox will be cool but only if they do it right and not the fighting/bipedal route that emboar got when it was already a trend we were tired of.

...then what are they gonna do for the horse when they have Ponyta/Rapidash running around?

Hey, they already had a Fire fox (Vulpix) and made Fennekin, so who's to say they can't make a horse-esque Fire starter?

Anyway, a fire snake would be pretty damn awesome (could see its final evo. being Fire/Poison or Fire/Dark), as would a fire rabbit (perhaps Fire/Fairy for its final form?). In regards to making "original" Pokemon, GF seems to have a way of making Pokemon that come from the same family or genus but are of a different species or have different origins, and as there are many animals and mythological creatures that have yet to be used, it's likely they'll be able to come up with relatively original starters.

I also would definitely support the fire Snake idea (I'd also be all for the Tiger one but I suppose there's Arcanine already to fill that gap) as snakes are one of my favourite animals and it's also plausible given that they could maybe base it off the Fire Corn Snake or other snakes that would work like the Scarlet Kingsnake maybe :)

As the other posters above mentioned, many Pokemon can have the exact same concept and go in three different directions. For the potential fire horse starter, they can really take it in some interesting directions especially when you consider the possible additional type that they may add. Plus, with the starter having three stages they can take the concept of fire horse in a totally new direction. As for the other zodiac animals, I'm interested to see what they make of a fire rabbit and goat/sheep, as they are animals that aren't really thought of as 'fiery,' like a fox or a dragon is.

Just because the Ponyta line exists, doesn't mean Game Freak could develop another horse Pokemon to be a future Fire starter. There are several animal species that are represented by numerous Pokemon, like dogs! However, who wouldn't want to see a sheep with flames instead of wool? A fire snake eventually getting a dual Poison typing would be amazing as well. There's lots of routes they could take, for sure. It's actually kind of surprising how many species they haven't covered, when you think about it.

as would a fire rabbit (perhaps Fire/Fairy for its final form?)

Wow. I. Love. This. Idea. Especially if the final form for such a line would be based off of a Jackalope. I mean, what would be better for a Fairy type than a "legendary" hybrid deer-rabbit-creature?

Also, I really like it when the starters end up having unique typings in their final forms. Sort of like how Empoleon was our first (and I still think only) Water/Steel type.

I know that this has nothing to do with anything, and I don't wanna derail the conversation too much, but I love your avatar, and your signature. I freaking love Saga.
