3rd Gen Smeargle: A transformer, or not?

    I have a question. Can Smeargle sketch Transform from a Ditto? I tried for an hour but it never sketched. I got so annoyed, I almost broke my GBA!! ( It was back in the days LOLz) ANswer, Please!! Im goin nuts!!!
     
    It should. Go fight a Ditto and find out.
     
    strangley enough, my smeargle won't sketch transform O_o

    i've also heard he can't sketch explosion or self-destruct.

    oddly enough though, you can sketch sketch xD
     
    I got a smergale of the GTS with transform so... could it have been hacked or is it ligit???
     
    It has transform?? Sounds like a hack to me..I know you can legitimately get a Smeargle (trade with coliseum to one of the gba games etc) but I'm pretty sure that Smeargle only knows the one move (sketch).
     
    You can I think but it only works on 1 pokemon game......CANT REMEMBER WHICH

    It would help if you would include what came you are playing on. I cannot say for certain in the earlier generations, but Smeargle CAN Sketch the move Transform in the Advance Gen. I have done it and made quite a fun moveset with it:

    - Explosion
    - Reflect
    - Spore
    - Transform

    This is fun to bring in early against a Curselax. Put it to sleep, Transform, and now you have the boosted Atk. Come in against Umbreon and you have instant WishPass for your own team. Come in against Starmie/Skarmory and you have Rapid Spin/Spikes. Fun to catch your opponent off-guard with Smeargle's unlimited movepool.
     
    The only move that Sketch doesn't work on is Chatter, which doesn't even exist in this generation. I don't know what's up with your game. Test it in a double battle. Have Ditto transform into Smeargle, and have Smeargle Sketch Ditto's Transform. See if that works. There's a double battle in between Verdanturf Town and Mauville City.
     
    I thought Sketch could only successfully sketch Transform in the PMD games...

    Again, as I said before, Smeargle CAN learn Transform. I have done it on numerous occasions.

    The easiest way to Sketch a move in Emerald, is to battle Gabby the Reporter and her cameraman. They can be found on Route 104, Route 108, and Route 121. Take Smeargle and the Pokemon that has the move you want to Sketch. Have your Pokemon attack with that move and have Smeargle use Sketch. Done. Simple. Take a Heart Scale to the Move Relearner to have Smeargle relearn Sketch or just raise it 11 levels until it learns it again.

    Transform doesn't copy Stats.

    Not sure if you are implying I meant Transform copies stats, which I didn't, or you were just adding another fact. Sketch definitely doesn't copy the actual stats of the targeted Pokemon, but it certainly DOES copy stat boosts (i.e. Curse, Swords Dance, etc.).
