Yes he has a massive HP and attack stat.... along with good speed. But he has that disgusting trait Traunt which only allows him to use a move every other turn.

I need a big guy for my team. I wanted Slaking, but should I just go with Snorlax?

When you say big guy, do you mean a sweeper? Snorlax is more of a wall. Slaking is not completely worthless becaue of that trait. You have to make his masive attack count because he can only attack half of the time. Use a baton passing Scizor and use Sword Dance a few times. Then baton pass and get Slaking out, and he has an attack that few can comprehend.

it's up to you realy slaking is realy good with a pokemon that know skill swip and has good trait it become a killing michane soo go with a slaking and a skill sweper

Well, I've heard about how deadly Skarmory and Blissey are and have been trying to think of a way to counter it. So basically, I was looking at Slaking being able to use Bulk Up then Focus Punch to take out Blissey. But only being able to move once every two turns seems pretty nasty.

with what someone else said before i think,
teach it skill swap( i think it can learn it). that way your opponent has that awful ability.

I just checked Serebii and Slaking can't learn Skill Swap unfortunately.

    Fabbles:
    Infernape's pretty cool.

    What about this moveset?
    Focus Punch
    Bulk Up
    Blast Burn
    Substitute

Not too bad, but I would use something like:

    Hasty/Naive Nature
    Fire Blast / Flamethrower
    Close Combat
    Thunder punch / Stone Edge
    Grass Knot

This offers the most type coverage and can threaten a lot of pokes.

But with Hasty or Naive and Clost Combat, won't he be dead in one hit?

How come Close Combat over Focus Punch? Is Blast Burn no good? Also, I stupidly wasted Grass Knot early in the game on a Chimecho. Sorry for all the questions. Heh.

I've seen some pretty good slaking's out there. I'll be honest and say I'm not familiar with it but it's actually a very good pokemon. CB slaking is pretty tough to beat especially since slaking has pretty good defense and sp.defense and can take a couple of hits.. team him up with other walls that are great at switching in(milotic anyone?) so you can switch him out when traunt sets in at times. with the right teammates and strategy slaking is very scary. I know because i've seen a couple of them.

Adamant and Jolly are pretty good natures for slaking. Forget hasty and naive and such. Since slaking doesn't need sp.attack at all, the best nature would be one that benefits its attack/speed and hinders sp.att. That makes Adamant and jolly the best.

    Slaking@Choice Band
    adamant
    evs:6hp 252att 252speed
    -earthquake
    -brick break/focus punch
    -return/facade/sleep talk
    -aerial aceshadow claw/night slash

substitute is useless on it because it would have to take 2 hits(traunt ability). even with its defense the sub would most likely break, so in the end you're just wasting hp without getting anything done. CB and all out attacks is the way to go.

Hammerarm is an option but in such case speed ev's should go into hp with some distributed in defense. Hope this helps.

C Dog, we were talking about Infernape, so Naive and Hasty natures are fine.
    The best Slaking set is:
    Adamant @ Choice Band
    Earthquake
    Return / Giga Impact
Night Slash / Shadow Claw / Pursuit
    Focus Punch

Infernape shouldn't be taking any hits. It's job is to scout the opponent's team and hit everything on it hard. Since your opponent will most likely switch to a few different things, Infernape won't be hit. It has bad def/Sdef anyways, so it would be Koed all the same.

Wow. Excellent help! Maybe I could use both Slaking and Infernape? And by scouting the team, I'm guessing Infernape would go first?

Man, every set I see includes the Choice Band...

Slaking needs Choice Band because you need to take advantage of his attack opportunities. He couples nicely with Infernape when the Infernape is leading. Scout the opposing team, see what counters they have, and switch out. Bring in Slacking later and predict them to take down their team.

Alright, so I'm going to go with a Hasty Infernape with Stone Edge, Clost Combat, and Thunderpunch. He can also learn Flare Blitz, can I use this instead of Flamethrower since it has a much higher power?

... and Slaking with Focus Punch, Return, and Shadow Claw. Can I use a different move in place of Earthquake? Because I want to use that on my Blastoise.

Slaking can make use of Giga Impact. He is going to have to wait a turn anyways. Same with Rest. Those two combinations make for a nasty Slaking.

Oooh wait. I just remembered that Skarmory has high defense. So I'm guessing Flamethrower or Blast Burn will do more to it than Flare Blitz?

Punishment: That's true. Hmm... which move should I ditch for Giga Impact and/or Rest?

Giga impact is an option over return. rest however, isn't that great on a CB'er. So you're going to switch him in just so it can use rest to recover some hp, and then waste another turn to wait and then switch him out again(since CB would forbid it from using other moves when it wakes up)? You waste a lot of turns and you're giving your opponent a lot of time to set up. I still believe all-out attack is the way to go with CB slaking.

Any idea how much damage Return can do if Slaking's happiness is maxed? More than the whopping 150 Giga Impact?

nope, it does just over 2/3 of giga impact's damage i believe.

    Okay, thanks.

What about replacing Earthquake with something else? Because I want to use that move for Blastoise (or should I?).
