    Gyarados
    Jolly Nature (+spd -SA at)
    -Aqua Tail
    -Ice Fang
    -Earthquake
    -Strone Edge

    I couldnt use any good moves like Hydro Pump and such because there all SA at. moves.

    I just wanted to make sure that this is a good move set for an Att. Gyarados.

    I replaced Ice fang with Avalanche because it's not a DD one, it'll be slower than most other pokemon like salamence, garchomp etc ... so it'll hit them harder

    I would have preferred
    Adamant nature
    - DragonDance
    - Water fall
    - Earthquake
    - Stone edge

    Just throw in a Choice Band and you're set.

    Gyarados @ Choice Band
    Jolly nature

    - Waterfall/Aqua Tail
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Fang
    - Stone Edge

    Avalanche is not needed because Ice Fang is enough ot OHKO the stuff Waterfall, Earthquake or Stone Edge don't already hit harder and Ice Fang can flinch and freeze which makes it incredibly cool. (no pun intended)

    I Don't agree with your tactics about Ice fang

    Ice fang will be quite useless to put on this Gyarados

    Ice fang = 65 power + flinch and freeze
    Avalanche = 60 power + power double if user receives damage first.

    If this Gyarados was a dragon dancer then it could be option putting ice fang on it, so it could out speed faster opponents by using dragon dance first then trying to flinch them with ice fang.

    Because this Gyarados doesn't have dragon dance, Avalanche is quite advisable because it will double its power when faster opponents attack it first.

    No pokemon has a 4x weakness to ice slower than Gyarados, expecpt Torterra and a few other pokemon. Why not use Avalanche over Ice fang to hit those pokemon, it only has 5 power difference. Avalanche will be far superior at hitting faster opponent with a base power of 120, not to mention hitting those pokemon with 2x and 4x weakness will greatly increase Avalanche's base power.

    Except, like Shorties already pointed out, Ice Fang already KOs what needs to be KOed; i.e. double ice weaks. Yes, Avalanche would deal more, but an OHKO is an OHKO, so the extra power is just overkill. For everything else, the other attacks in the set will do more damage anyway, making the additional power of Avalanche moot (since it still won't be the preferable attack). Gyarados has a respectable base Speed of 81, so relying on your opponent getting the first hit seems like bad strategy to me. :\ The only poke for which that extra damage would seem worthwhile is Torterra, which just so happens to be too slow to get the first hit.

    So yeah, I'm all for Shorties' edition here. But of course, Life Orb is always an option over CB if you like to live dangerously.

    The reason i dont want to use Avalanch is because well his nature ups speed, and i cant change it because it's a shiny. Id rather have a shiny crappy natured one insted of a Good nature not shiny.

    And i always level up my pokemon really high so my speed will always be above and i wont be hit first (Unless im hit with quick attack)

    I dont know if i would want to go with a life orb..i dont have a chansey on my team and i dont ussually stock up on items, just for the E4, i may just go with CB

    With a speedy Gyarados, Ice Fang is best. Not sure why you added Waterfall over Surf Smarties.

    I'm so jealous I want a Shiny Gyarados too =(

    Put some Dragon Dance on there and Power him up. That's typically the best way to use Gyarados.

    Alright thanks for all of your help, I dont think i would use the Dragon Dance, i dont ussually like to power up because, i ussually don't need to, because im ussually 10-20 levels higher than what im fighting.

    Lol i just made my pokemon team that i wanted to use before the elite four, and Gyarados was the only pokemon that wasn't 4th generation, and i was thinking since it was the only odd pokemon out i wanted it shiny, I go to my girlfriends house and went to go get a magickarp, and it happens to be shiny. My girlfriend was mad because i pushed her away from her and told her to shut up, but i got a shiny out of it. I later found a fossil and a Plate underground right next to eacher, i guess i was having a lucky day =]

    Why would anyone use Surf on Gyarados? Its Special Attack is measley as it is, but with a Special Attack hindering nature it's completely useless. Waterfall, however, is now a physical move making it an excellent choice for physical Water types.

    You won't be 10-20 levels higher than everybody once you beat the game and battle peeps over WiFi. If you are just going to overwhelm the AI with levels then why even make a moveset for him at all?

    The answer is to make him the best he can possibly be and that is with *Dragon Dance.

    *Dragon Dance makes Gyarados one of the scariest pokes on the planet. With just one of these under his belt he can outspeed anything that would be a threat to him not wearing an Adherence Scarf.

    If you don't want to use *Taunt than that's OK but please don't gimp yourself out of a sweep. Even against the bad AI. Why some peeps are allergic to support moves i'll never understand but his set should look like this...

    Gyarados w/Leftovers
    'Intimidate' : Lowers opponents Att 1 stage.
    <Jolly : +Spd / -Sat>
    * Dragon Dance
    * Earthquake
    * Ice Fang
    * Waterfall / * Taunt

    For EV's its hard to say because you didn't provide any IV's so we don't know where those are at but i'll give you some #'s you should shoot for when he's Lv.100.

    HP: 352 (22) / 368 (23) / 384 (24)

    This will maximize his Leftover Recovery. The (#) is how many HP per round he recovers.

    Spd: 225 / 265

    Depending on how much setup you want.

    If you are using a <1> *Dragon Dance setup than Spd 265 + HP 352 and the rest in Att.

    If you are using a <2> *Dragon Dance setup than Spd 225 + HP 384 and the rest in Att.

    This won't help you with this poke as much since you've already been battling with him so he has EV's already.

    Here's a link that will help you determine IV's in the future so you know how your pokes should be handled as far as EV's go...

    Psypoke IV Calculator

    Punch in the #'s and find out exactly what you are working with here. If i were you i'd start collecting the EV removing berries so that after you beat the game you can reset his EV's and make him into the Rape Artist that he should be.

    Oddly......I forgot about that.
