If you complete Black Tower in Black 2 version, or White Tree Hollow in White 2 version, you get a shiny Gible (black 2) or a shiny dratini (white 2). Additionally, if you see every pokemon on the unova dex, you get to challenge a shiny haxorous. What do you think of this!?

Don't get me wrong, I love shiny Pokemon, and I have quite a collection of them. But I think that maybe there are too many freebie shiny Pokemon. There is:
    - Shiny Gyarados from HG/SS
    - Shiny Pichu from the Movie Event
    - Shiny Suicune, Entei, and Raikou from the Gamestop Events
    - Shiny Gible/Dratini from Black 2 and White 2
    - Shiny Haxorous from Black 2 and White 2
    (maybe some more i missed?)

I think that's kind of a lot of freebies especially since Shiny pokemon are supposed to be rare. So what do you think of Black 2 and White 2 making 3 more freebie shinies available?

They were supposed to be rare and stuff, but nowadays they're just as common as regular pokemon.
I think that within a game that's all about "gotta catch'em all", it would be extremely dissappointing if you couldn't get the shiny pokemon you want.

It's personal preference: some shiny are worth it, some shiny are not. But that doesn't mean you have to go through hoops to get one, with the game restricting you as well, just so it remains "special" or "unobtainable" for other trainers.

8 out of 649. That's hardly a lot. That barely even breaks extremely rare. Its nice to have them. Some players have gone generations without seeing a legit wild Shiny Pokemon. I didn't get one until B/W and I've been in the fandom since R/B.

Two of those listed sets which makes up four individual Pokemon are events from years ago that can't be downloaded making only half of that even repeatable Shiny captures.

B2W2 even makes you work for your shinies.

I only consider the Lake of Rage Gyarados a freebie, since getting it requires doing nothing special.

I like that they gave these out to people. It gives incentive to do what's required for them. PWT wins give recognition from NPCs and Pokestar gives your Pokemon a special battle entry animation, so you get rewarded for putting effort and time into any aspect of the game!

The Dratini is a huge let down, though. Since it misses out on Multiscale. :\

People who think shinies are common NOW clearly forget Gen 2 when you could get a 1/64 chance to breed one, lol.

I was thinking about bringing that up. That is very true. It's also nice because I also know people who never find any shiny pokemon throughout their entire gameplay.

    What!?!? I didn't know that

Easier shiny access is a double edged sword. It first makes some of your favorite(if they are) pokemon so much easier to obtain in their shiny form. Someone desperately trying to breed for/find that shiny Axew can finally have his cake and eat it. At the same time, allowing the shiny version of the pokemon makes that version that much less desirable/rare/unique.

Its only a few Pokemon that they give out that are shiny and dont forget, alot of those were events, that some people dont even have access to. Assuming you can't get the events all you would be able to get is the Gyarados, Dratini/Gible and Haxorus. You still have to work for shinies, maybe not the Gyarados but the Dratini/Gible you have to win a bunch of battles to get and the Haxorus you need to see all the Pokemon in the Unova Dex, so it isnt that easy honestly.

I've been into Pokemon since Gen III and I've gotten my fair share of shinies, excluding the Red Gyarados in HG/SS. Heck, I don't even try looking for shinies in the first place.

Anyway, as for the shiny Gible and Dratini, I think GameFreak should've given them their DW abilities to make them more special.

    I have a shiny Haxorus.
I got a shiny (Not the Axew but the evolution between Haxorus and Axew) from someone.
And I trained it till it's a level 100 shiny Haxorus.
    :)

I wouldn't consider the movie ones freebies, you can't get them anymore. That would be four, which I think is kinda small. Still, its true, haxorus being shiny took away the specialness... I actually bred a shiny axew using masuda, and then they go and let you get the FINAL FORM for free in shiny form :(. Although, its nice that you can reset for IVs and nature, but I still think that shinies are still special, only not anymore for the ones released. IMO.

I also don't consider the event shiny Pokemon as freebies, as they were obtainable for a limited amount of time. As for the others, I think one free shiny would've been enough, but I guess I can't really complain about two.

I think this is a joke. Let's give away the ugliest shinies. Gible and Dratini are fine. But I don't know a lot of people, other than collectors and RNGers, that will keep them at that stage. Many players will want to train them and evolve them. And guess what? Shiny Garchomp is barely any different than its normal counterpart and shiny Dragonite is puke green. Actually, not even puke. More like...dump green. If you know what I mean.

    Here's non shiny Garchomp:

So while the sentiment is nice, they could have chose something with a better color. I suppose a shiny is a shiny, but still...it should at least be appealing. But that's not to say everyone has the same opinion as me. Some people probably like it. I myself will not evolve them. Shiny Dratini maybe, because I love shiny Dragonair, but Gible will likely stay the same.

Haxorus on the other hand is a great gift. That's a great shiny, I think. So that's something I'll want to go after.

Edit: Is this topic about these three shinies or "freebie" shinies all over the board? I'm confused. Thread title is misleading...

Ya know, this seems a bit too general. At first this thread seems as though it would be about the newest guaranteed shiny Pokemon within the games, but then you go off and talk about Pokemon from other games, and then shinies in general. I'm afraid that due to how much you have spoken not only about the guaranteed shinies, but shinies in general, that this would warrant the thread to be moved into the Pokemon Gaming Central section. But, again, since you have seemed to zero in onto the guaranteed ones from black 2 and White 2, this thread is really in Limbo. So I can't move it, nor can I leave it open. You're more than welcome to open another thread like it, but be sure to be much more specific as to what you're going to discuss about.
