For those that don't know, Shedinja has this nifty little ability that makes it invulnerable to non-super effective attacks. Shedinja is a Bug/Ghost type, so the only moves that can hit it are Rock, Fire, Ghost, Dark, and Flying type moves. But the catch is, it only has 1 HP, so one hit and it's done.

So, what are your thoughts on the use of Shedinja competitively? Have you ever used it in battle? Did it prove useful? Have you ever gone up against one? It's such an interesting Pokemon, share your thoughts!

Its honestly not a very good pokemon. It takes far too much support for relatively little pay off.

Entry hazards, weather, leech seed, status etc all wreck it aswell as several other things. It also has rather mediocre coverage which doesnt help it either, that and its slow and quite powerless vs anything with decent bulk.

All those factors (which are common) make it really futile and a waste of time to run. There are better options.

Yep, as Dark said, even weather or battle area offensive moves can be harmful :/
I never use it. Its knocked out much too easily. (Better to evolve a nincada to Ninjask than Shedninja :P)
But though, it has very high stats :)

I wouldn't call its stats high. Its Attack is only average at best, while Shedinja itself is slow.

I agree with Dark_Azelf; Shedinja needs a lot of support to work effectively. It does see niche use in Ubers, though, as it walls Kyogre and Fire Blast-less Palkia (though outside of that, it's useless).

I agree with most of what this smart cookie said. Shedinja is not very good if it doesn't have the right teammates to support it since its weaknesses are common, alongside entry hazards which take it out pretty much instantly.

And it's also really really slow, meaning it'll get outsped and destroyed by most of the big guns.

So long as you use hold items to counter Shedinja's stats and give it the right moveset it's entirely useful. For instance so long as it has moves like Phantom Force or dig then it's HP is a non-issue against Pokemon that actually can hurt it.

Like almost everyone else has said, Shedinja is kinda useless and/or requires far too much effort to make it work. The only things I see it being any good for are, like Platinum said, walling some Ubers, or to troll noobs who don't know what Shedinja is and how Wonder Guard works.

I don't see how Phantom Force and Dig help it out. You can't avoid attacks forever with those moves. Faster pokes will kill it before it can use those, and slower pokes can juts live through the PF/Dig and kill it afterwards. A Sash would only keep it around for one more turn before it dies (or whatever happens to a zombie bug husk). And its not like Shedinja has the Attack to do anything useful in that time.
