Okay, so I'm currently playing against the Elite 4. But, as soon as I reach Cynthia, all of her pokemon know Earthquake. Just so conveniently, my strongest pokemon is Luxray which is electric type. So every time any one of her pokemon decide they'll lose, they use earthquake and BAM! Instant KO!

It gets really annoying. I'd think the game was plotting against me. We all know how paradoxian their AI skills are.

In DP only three of her Pokemon have Earthquake, and two of those Pokemon are part Ground-type. In Platinum only one of her Pokemon has it, and it's part Ground.

Maybe you could try using something else against those Pokemon with Earthquake, after all... Luxray can't do anything to the ones that are part Ground.

No... I beat her in Platinum and I could swear there were at LEAST 2 or 3 that used earthquake.

I feel your pain though :|

Just brought over my lv100 Regigas I got from Toys 'R Us though ahahah.

Actually, she has a very effective crunch and return :P

And I just beat her... YAY! :3

Like seriously, my empoleon is really weak, and my Palkia is barely stronger than my empoleon, so my hands were tied... I actually used up 20 revives and 46 Hyper potions beating her :P

I'm left wondering how you got in any moves against her with all those items.

And congrats, you spent $145,200 on that battle. :|

Lots of Pokemon can learn Earthquake, it's got a lot of power and Ground is super effective to a lot of types. Thus a lot of Pokemon have Earthquake. :P

Eh, it took a lot of money, but I don't care! And it was an extremely long battle... And I guess it was fun, except for that apocalypse of earthquakes.

    ...Wow. Just... wow.

However, when I started my E4 challenge for the first time, I have to say that I was guilty of it too. Normally, I spam with Revives and Revival herbs in the beginning. I certainly did that in Diamond, but not so much in Platinum.

According to Psypoke, in Platinum, only Garchomp has Earthquake.

But in DP, Gastrodon, Lucario AND Garchomp knows it.

Yeah, I have a bunch of earthquake tms and I have been utilizing them....
    They are that awesome

    Muahaha. =D

^ This. What levels are your Pokémon and what are their types? Luxray would probably only be good against at least Cynthia's Milotic but I could be wrong. Perhaps if you had a water type it would help. You could teach that water type Pokémon an ice move for her Garchomp which would knock it out good, but it depends on your pokémon's level there. Other than this, just try levelling up and you'll beat Cynthia.

edit: skipped the part where you've beaten her, nevermind this.

Well, even though there are plenty of Flyers and Levitators running around, Earthquake is still one of the best attaking moves in the game, so Cynthia would be foolish not to teach it to her Pokemon

Oh gosh! I haven't played the Generation IV games, but that's got to be frustrating! : (

    lol @ first post.

AIs really do crazy stuff sometimes, i'm always astonished when an elite 4 pokemon has attacks that r effective against all my pokemon.
