This is a little fan-fic that I decided to write, that is suppose to be like the sequel to "To Kill a Mockingbird", this happeneds a year after the Bob Ewell death, and I've decided to do it in chapters like a book XD.
For those who don't know what, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is about its about, the times in the 1930's depression, and the social classes of that time in south "Maycomb"(not a real place), or in Alabama. And the case of a Africa-American being acussed of a crime he didn't comment. If you read this book you'll have a better understanding of the novel and how the title relates to it, well here it is, I hope that you will all enjoy this ^^.

Its been a year since the Bob Ewell incident, Jem's 13 now and I'm 9. Atticus been acting real strange now a days,
I noticed how he dousn't go to work everyday more like every other day it seems. After Jem's arm healed, he plays football more often, and we've been spending alot less time together now, so I'm alone most of the time, or with Calpurnia helping out with the house work. Aunt Alexandra had the feeling that she wasn't very welcomed by Jem and I, so after Jem was all better she left to spend her life with her husband, so much for trying to make me a lady. We hadn't seen Dill in ages, I reckon that he left Maycomb county to find new parents.
"Jem, you going to go play football again?" I asked him as he was to rush out the door that sunny afternoon.
Jem stopped at the screen door, and looked up with his bushy hair covering part of his face, and the broad stick he used as a basball bat "Naw, I'm gonna go play baseball with the boys, sorry Scout you can't come." he responded quickly before running out.
I'm used to that now, most of the time that Jem went out, I couldn't come with him unlike before, when we did pratically everything together. Sometimes, I might get a chance if Atticus asked him to get something from town, or if he needs someone to play with, but now its diffrent and I hardly get to spend time with Jem since his 13th birthday.
"Scout, can you come here for a second please?" Atticus asked from the front porch. I walked to Atticus like he requested, and I found him with one leg crossed on top of the other, reading the daily Maycomb paper "Can you ask Calpurnia, if lunch will be ready soon?" he said, with his face still barried behind his paper. "Yes Atticus." I said trying to sound enthusiasticly.
Ever since the Tom Robinson case, Atticus has been getting older and older, and it showed in his face. His face seemed more like a elderly's person's face with alot of wrinkles, but not too old. His hair was turning more grey as the days passed us by, with certain area's turning hiar brown hair more grey then others, and he didn't go to work as often anymore, ot even this day.
As I skipped to the kitchen I found Calpurnia standing there, cutting potatoes for lunch while the water ran from the tap. I often wondered why Calpurnia still was with us, we loved her like a mother but a few months ago she met a man Fred Johnson, who was 12 years past her age and she should be spending alot of time with him insted of worrying about us, but I hadn't thought of who would we see as a mother anymore.
"Calpurnia.." I said looking down on the ground that had the potato peels.
"Yes Scout." She said in her normal voice while she continued to cut, and hum a church song.
"Atticus was wondering when lunch would be ready."
"Tell Mr. Finch, it should be about a half hour or so, lunch will be a bit later then usual."
"Yes'm."
I told Atticus what Calpurnia told me to tell him, and he nodded his head behind the paper, between turning pages. I left the porch, and went into my room, I sighed to myself to what little I could do in the day without Jem around, I could go see what Miss Maudie was doing, but I decided not to and leave her with her new grown flowers that she planted by her new house. I just took a nap to pass the rest of the time, before lunch was ready.
"Jean Louise, wake up!" I heard a voice say, still half sleeping. I opened my eyes to see that Calpurnia's brown eyes stare into mine.
"Lunch ready?" I said in a low tone of voice. "Lunch? No time for lunch now you have to come now!" Calpurnia's voice was bold, but not mean. " Something happend to Atticus!"
I immediatly got up and followed Calpurnia, I was lost for words of what I found.
