(Not sure if posts like this go here.)

Here, I will showcase some Pokemon characters I have done in the past and talk about some characters I will be making in the future all in a game called "MUGEN". What's that you might say? Google MUGEN. Wikipedia and Wikia has the answer to that. But in common terms, it's a fighting game "engine" where you download stages, characters (mostly characters), screenpacks, etc and try to make a game out of it. Although the results aren't very good competitve wise, it's fun to see what you can get. You start out with two kung Fu Men and a bland screenpack You have to work your way into downloading more characters screenpacks and stages until your game looks like a local token sucking arcade game. Or alternatively you can make your own game but however you will notice it's poor limitations the more you progress into your game but there are some great fighting games from it such as Capcom VS The World.

And you probably know already, I have created my fair share of characters. I am not a spriting expert and neither am I Pots (Character developer) so expect them to be simple characters that happen to be animated and made out of the sprites from Black and White and if not, from Joshr's custom sprites (All credit goes to him).

Introduction to MUGEN aside and assuming you read some tutorials on how to add characters, stages, and/or screenpacks into Mugen, here are some of the characters I have created with download links and sprite animations of their stances.

Also if you don't know what AI is, it's Artifical intelligence, AKA CPU.

    Pachirisu

    sprite:

My opinions: Well, it's a start. I do have a huge fond for this character though since it was the first character that I actually took effort into. a month of effort actually. My other characters nowadays take a week since I got so used to MUGEN's coding after this little Pachi here. The AI is strong and puts you into a lockdown with no escape much like that one version of Pikachu (ugh) only it doesn't look like it button mashes when locking you down. Pachirisu's AI is a thousand times stronger than all of the Pikachus' Ais available in MUGEN combined. Pachirisu only has one victory (It flails its arms around happily. Lel) and the voice came from the Pokemon animes themselves. It's also poorly attempted a PoTs style so a lot of glitches may or may not happen.

I am surprised to see Pachirisu be the most downloaded character I made despite its flaws and the Pokemon itself due to it's ignorance in the Pokemon community although winning the world championship along with the rest of its teammates.

    Victini

    sprite:

My opinions: Victini's a real boss here. It's really slow but can pack a punch. It's best super is it's level 2 super (AKA V-sync) where its opponent is locked down in a burning state and their health is slowly going down as time goes by. After they are finish being burned, Victini is able to continue punching or burning the opponent most preferrably with a will-o-wisp attack (It's the heavy kick key). I have improved with this character over Pachirisu. Victini can now do combos in the air rather than mostly in the ground KOF style. (Pachirisu was KOF inspired from what it seems.) The AI hasn't been made stronger in an update so Victini is the weakest AI I have created so far due to how slow it is. As usual, it has one victory pose but this time there is sound. Like Pachirisu, its voice comes from the animes and the sprites are edited from Black and White.

I could of made it float when it was standing. I think it's rather out of character for it to stand on the ground in a serious fighting position.

    Meloetta

    Sprite:

Opinions: I don't have much to say really. I think me and Ryon really did the MVC1 style right. Though they are easy to use comparing to back in MVC1.

I thought the thing on her head was a large hairclip. One of my RP buddies fooled me on that when I was in the middle of making the sprite. Whoops!

    Minun:

(Unfortunately, I didn't feel like using the effort to post a stance pic)

Opinions: Is like Meloetta. I went past the whole 6 special moves only rule and decided to make close up and ranged variance. Result came out nice and it was pretty hard to beat in AI matches. Unfortunately, I stopped developing it's other partner.

Hmm, really this isn't considered making games. You can make your own personal game with these but okay. Whatever, Processing will work.

    Added Minun.

This is probably my final Pokemon and my final character in general. At this point, I am noticing that the MUGEN fanbase/community is starting to ignore me the best they can. They are doing this because I was on some identity crisis over someone who apparently did something really bad in their Wikia page. So they think I was that guy and now everyone in MUGEN is doing their best to drive me off of MUGEN using methods such as pretending I don't exist, calling me that guy, banning me in their forums, responding to my serious posts in a joking and smart alecy way and claiming them to be spam, and many more. I was just doing MUGEN to make characters I like into the game but apparently, I can't do that. I also get banned for NO REASON AT ALL in plenty of their forums, one of them had a "Oh, of course that was gonna happen to him nobody gives a damn about him." moment in their moderator's sub-threads one of the mods giving a reason being "He was "spamming" so I had to permaban him". So now, I am getting pretty sick of it. I would love to make more though. It was pretty fun until everyone in the MUGEN community, from Youtube, MFFA, MFG, and Mugen Wiki, started to falsely accuse me of a spammer, give me the same reputation of the person who caused trouble in their main Wikia site now being stuck to me. I had to remove my MUGEN alias because searching him up would give an article about that person instead merged with a tad bit of my info.

As for the characters, after Pachirisu don't expect anything made with lots of effort because at that point, everyone started to harass me over being someone that I am not and I just didn't have the motivation to make these characters anymore. I couldn't even get any help either because I was freaking banned on every large MUGEN forum there is and asking on Youtube didn't help either because everyone I spoke with would straight out IGNORE ME AND/OR BLOCK ME.

Sorry for bringing a community's drama over to the Pokemon community but I had to get this out of my chest somehow. Everywhere else I could not.

Well, I'm sorry to hear about your rough experiences elsewhere. Most of the folks here are too involved in their own projects to pass much judgement on others', especially ones outside of the traditional role of Pokemon turn-based RPG. (I'd hope with Pokken, Rumble and Shuffle gaining traction, there may be some more diversity in the fangame community sometime, but I wouldn't hold my breath! :P )

Your sprite work seems overall pretty decent - with that resolution it's hard to get much nuance in movement like most fighting games(Though I'd imagine the Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga style could give it the old college try), and it's clear you've put a lot of thought into your MUGEN work. Out of curiosity, did you have a reason to make the decision to break the 6-special move rule other than Minun obviously being one of your favorites?

One of my bigger projects(what now seems like a lifetime ago) was as design lead for a team making a rhythm-based fighting game, and one of my bigger concerns with the project from the fighting game perspective was that we had to limit the complexity of attacks (3 basic moves + 3 special moves accessed by doing attacks to the beat of the music). I think it was for the better in that we were able to produce way more content with the project with that simplicity, but on the other hand we did lose out with people who were hardcore fighting game buffs. Did you feel that adding more variants on special moves overcomplicated Minun?

There's actually a few Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga custom animated MUGEN characters out there. Too bad everyone hates them though. In MUGEN, everyone expects you to draw and animate sprites yourself if you're gonna make completely original characters so using official sprites will take off some points to your overall reputation and "the quality and popularity of the character" and it's worse if it comes to Pokemon characters. The only way for that character to be redeemed is if it is in the fighting style of Capcom VS SNK or Tekken(/Pokken). I broke the 6-special move rule (It's my own rule) because Minun was a close ranged fighter and in the MUGEN environment, close ranged fighters will often get their butts beat in AI VS AI matches unless if they can dodge professionally or can do 100+ hit combos so to make Minun not get the Victini treatment (I made Victini weak on accident. I kinda wanted him to be like Ganondorf in terms of strength.) and have her moves have projectile and close up versions. It does make her more complicated but if not overdone, she won't be as overcomplicated. I want her to at least hold a chance against unfair projectile spammers like Mega Man Volnutt. Meloetta, Victini, Pachirisu, and *Sigh* Braixen are my favorite Pokemon (not as much as Minun) but they don't break the 6-special rule so it's not at all a bias. If MUGEN wasn't such a big AI tournament, I would made all of my characters easy to use, really. Besides graphics and true-to-source issues, MUGEN likes to wine about simplicity and AI.

Someone saying that I put a lot of work into my characters would be seen as a joke to others but thanks. First time someone actually came up and said that publically without saracasm. If you are interested, I also made a "boss" character where it's a half custom, half conversion of Z-Prototype from Mega Man Unlimited. I can send you the character if you want. I'll give you a hint on defeating this version of ZPrototype, let himself die. As in his healthbar is a running timer.

TBM...... I think I heard of you before.
