sceptile moveset?

    This would be more like it:

    Dragon Claw
    Leaf Blade
    Hidden Power/Toxic
    Crunch

    Attach a Petaya berry to him, too.

    That was the standard for the 3rd generation. Since those were special attacks. Now they are physical attacks. Which won't be good for this Sceptile.

    Like okka said. It's a standard set now. Grass Knot is always an good attack to use also.
     
    i'd put leech seed over dragon pulse. leech sub is enough to make whoever resist energyball+focus blast to make the switch, allowing you to hit whoever switches in HARD. with sceptile's sp.att, energy ball and focus blast are going to put a dent on pokemon who are resistant anyway. unless you have a big dragon problem, i don't see why you need dragon pulse.

    I agree with you on this. Subseeding skeptile is SOOO much more useful than dragonpulse. Great starter and great scouter.

    I really hate Focus Blast for its 70% accuracy. =\
    Sceptile can basically Leech Seed the opponent and Protect & Detect to slowly kill or just force a switch. Dragon Pulse is mainly for the surprise factor, and Energy Ball is standard.

    I have no battle experience, so I'm not so sure about this.

    sceptile can learn both protect and detect? i wouldn't know as i wouldn't think of trying something like this.. this kind of stalling is just wasting other people's time. I really wouldn't suggest this set as it becomes useless if the oppoent has a grass type which resist leech seed, in which case the entire set is ruined and you're only left with energy ball/dragon pulse. a pokemon can also use taunt on you. sceptile is best used as a sp.sweeper. leave the annoying stuff to other pokemon as it's too good for that stuff.
     
    You'll get no damage done, Leech, Switch, Leech, Switch.

    No damage, if you use that moveset(which I don't recommend), You need a Stealth Rocker/Toxic Spiker/Spiker and Leech Seed to force switches.

    Detect/Protect will wear out fast and is a waste of time. 5PP for Detect and Sceptile is done.
     
    Um, that isnt completely true. Leech seed forces your opponent to switch in order to deal with it. Giving you a chance to scout. ANd if your opponent is just going to keep switching that gives you a chance to switch yourself. Leech seed is VERY good =\
     
    SubSeeding Sceptile saved my life all through 3rd Gen, and it should still work in 4th Gen. Here's the REAL way to use it:

    Sceptile @ Leftovers
    Ability: Overgrow
    EVs: 96 HP / 252 Spd / 160 SAtk
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Substitute
    - Leech Seed
    - Hidden Power (Ice) / Dragon Pulse / Endeavor
    - Leaf Storm
    It's basically going to just hit and run as it seeds, so Leaf Storm is an absolute must.
     
    It's going to U-Turn a Substitute, then yeah, we start all over, which is the exact same process if a Substitute fades period.

    Secondly, not a lot of things with high HP are going to use U-Turn.

    Leafstorm lowers Sp. ATK!!! A lot!!!

    Energyball is sooooooooo much better. Sceptile is a Special attacker, do NOT lower his special attack
     
    leaf storm kills off pokemon. So what if it lowers special attack switching elimates that problem. It is also up to the user.
