Well, nothing much I can say....except...wth?
I'm a person that enjoys reading. Books, Comic books or Manga. I read it.
So I KNOW about Green Lantern, and how he is. Same goes for Deadpool. These two characters are from the biggest comic book publishing companies in North America, Marvel and DC.
So I find it kinda weird that an actor who is known for doing comedic roles takes on one of the most prized and serious superheroes (Not to mention, best selling book as well) DC has.
I'm not saying its bad, but recently Reynolds played Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Wade Wilson eventually becomes Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth. This role was comedic, which appealed to Reynolds type of acting. Deadpool, is a fan favorite and famous comic book character that breaks the 4th wall using Pop culture references, slapstick comedy and Black humor, while knowing that he is a comic book character.
Reynolds stated that he is a HUGE Deadpool fan, and signed on to do the long awaited spin-off movie fans have been wanting for which's release date is in 2011, same as Green Lantern.
So now Reynolds is doing 2 very famous but DIFFERENT characters from the 2 top comic book publishing companies in 2 different movies set for the same year.
But when I realized who he was competing against (Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto), I don't feel so bad now. Even though Cooper is a decent actor, I prefer Reynolds WAYYY more than Timberlake or Leto.
On the positive side, Green Lantern is directed by the Mask of Zorro and Casino Royale Director, Martin Campbell. It's screenwriters are Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green, both who haved worked for Marvel and DC on successful titles (Guggenheim is on the team of writers of the weekly Amazing Spider-Man and Michael Green is co-writer on Superman/Batman) and Guggenheim is known for being a screenwriter for shows such as: The Practice, Law & Order, CSI: Miami and most recently, Brothers & Sisters.
