Black and White introduced a new feature to the franchise in Rustling Grass.

If a player runs along side some grass, eventually a single patch will start to rustle. Depending on the location numerous Pokémon can be found. The Pokémon Audino is a common sighting but the elemental monkeys are also a possible encounter. Interestingly the player can also find fully evolved Pokémon at significantly lower level than they should be. In Losthorn Forest the player can find Unfezant at level 22, for example.

What did you think of this feature? Did you anything interesting during your play through?

I thought it was a nice addition, as it added some extra chance and surprise to the game that wasn't there before :) Also, I liked how the Pokemon in rustling grass were rarer than the ones found in the regular grass, it was also a nice touch!

One thing that I didn't like was that you could still encounter regular wild Pokemon on your way too the rustling grass, which would then disappear as soon as you exited the overworld.

I loved the phenomena feature of these games, since it not only gave us huge EXP with the Audinos but also occasionally gave us some nice fully-evolved Pokemon caught in the wild. Altairis sorta mentioned the only downside of it, with the chance you can still run into a normal encounter and break the phenomena but using a repel can help alleviate the issue.

I tend to abuse the rustling grass a lot when I'm in need of some free EXP. Audino grinding is one of the best methods ever introduced in terms of training.

Besides the obvious Audino/Exp grind, the best thing about the rustling grass was being able to find rare Pokémon. You can find wild Slaking in B2/W2, and many other Pokémon that I can't remember atm :D Another good thing about the rustling grass was that you could only find rare Pokémon, meaning you won't have to sift through 40 Pidove before finding a Dunsparce on Route 21.

Rippling water is cool too tho, don't forget about that. It's not everyday you find yourself reeling in a Kingdra :o

I enjoyed it, I thought it was a good addition to the game. Especially as the Pokemon found in the rustling grass were usually more difficult to find. It helped with level grinding, too.

It reminded me of chaining in one of the previous games (Diamond/Pearl) when you were searching for Shiny's.

It was an interesting addition, but didn't quite have a clue what it meant until I went into that rustling grass. I thought the rustles we all Audinos until I found a Pansage in the forest through the same way.

This was a pretty fun feature, and while its triggering was sometimes a bit impractical I liked the direction they went in with it. It's pretty fun when you run into something like a Dragonite, Mamoswine or Roserade (depending on location), or the EXP piñata that is Audino. When I first played White I didn't really understand it until I started seeing Audino on occasion while I was in the grass. But yeah, cool feature that I do hope makes a future return.

I actually really miss this mechanic. It along with hidden grottoes in B/W2, it added a bit of a suprise element to the game. I also got a Whimsicott from one right in the beginning of the game which, since it's one of my waifu-mon, REALLY made me happy. I hope they bring it back at some point.

Not to mention there was the rippling water effect when you are fishing/surfing for rare and overleveled Pokemon. That was my favorite. xD I found a Milotic that way.

However, wild Audino was perfect for grinding, even though Audinos are TOO ADORABLE it makes me feel bad in hurting them. :( I thought that was a good feature.

I loved this feature. Especially loved the Wild Battle remix that starts when you hit the Grass. This was a very helpful addition especially when doing Nuzlockes. The ridiculous amount of EXP you get from the Audino's is very helpful fr a healthy leveled Pokemon. Without using Rare Candies of course.

The one thing I disliked was how they all seemed to have Emolga in them which paralyzed my Pokemon and then Double Teamed so I only had a really small chance of hitting them left.

This was a feature I was so sad to see go in XY. At least we have something of a successor to it with ORAS' Pokemon walking around in grass thing, idk what they're calling it. Anyway, being able to find Audino everywhere was nice from a grinding stand point, but I think that they made it a bit too common so that almost every shaking stop has either Audino or Emolga, which is kinda crappy when you want to have more variety.

I've found it to be a pretty nifty feature. Usually, I avoid grass as much as possible, unless I'm trying to catch myself some Pokémon, train for EVs, or something else along the lines, but when they rustle, however, I'd give up those considerations and step on them anyhow, mostly because of curiosity and whatnot. Oftentimes, these tiles of grass give us chance to encounter some pretty valuable Pokémon, which I like.

Though, I kind of wish they were more common, but then again, having these things appear more would sort of take their magic away, making them seem less special in our eyes, I suppose.

Actually I really liked this feature! :) I was surprised, the first time I encountered rustling grass, but soon learned that around 80% of the time Audino can be found in here, which gives you a lot of Exp. So I would often "hunt" for rustling grass to train my Pokemon defeating Audino and catching the rarer 'mons you could only encounter in rustling grass. :)

The most interesting Pokemon I encountered in rustling grass were:
    1. Unfezant (male) - around Lv:29 so pretty exciting you could catch fully evolved Pokemon this way :)
    2. Cinccino - Also nice (around 5% chance), because I like it and that saves me a Shiny Stone to evolve Minccino ;)
    3. Lilligant - Quite nice as well (around 5% chance), since this saves me a Sun Stone to evolve Petilil
    4. Leavanny - It was around Lv:26 or so if I remember (around 5% chance), was pretty exciting since you can get Leavanny when leveling up a Swadloon with max. happiness ;)

Maybe it comes back someday, because it's an interesting and fun thing (and a unique way to capture specific Pokemon). It's a bit comparable to the Sweet Honey Trees in Gen.4, I always like new ways to catch Pokemon ;)
