Rural Area no longer has pokemon

So I live in a rural area. Up until the last update I could find pokemon near my house when I would go out for a walk. Since the last update, nothing shows nearby. I can go into town and find them, but nothing out here. Only about 3 miles from the town limits. Does anyone know if this is common?

Check if your data connection really is good, and terminate the app and re-boot it in two cases:

1. Kill the app and re-launch it before leaving the house or your place of work/school, after it has been running in the background without you moving for many hours. Get a fresh re-start before you resume playing the game

2. Stop it and relaunch it if anything goes buggy in any way, or lags too much. When i get no pokemon, or a pokestop goes buggy on me, or when a fellow player who is 1 meter from me gets a spawn and i do not get it (up to 20 seconds delay can happen, above that you need a relaunch), i go to the applications manager (android), force a shutdown, and start it back up.

You are doing it right when you see the launch screens with the progress bar and Niantic + Niantic logo + The Pokemon Company on that white background.

Try it, when in doubt kill the app and restart it. After trying this, do the problems persist?

yes still doing it> tried all the above and another phone> it"ss like they have all fled the area> that"s why i was wonder if they narrowed the areas they appear it

Actually, I've seen this before in some areas in both Texas and California. It's very tricky yet sometimes difficult for Pokemon to spawn in extremely rural areas because there's not much area to cover. The only way for you to spawn Pokemon is using an lure incense. It does the trick, but you can only do so much for a limited amount of time.

I currently live in a rural-ish area near Galveston and Pokemon do tend to spawn if I do some actual walking. What gives me the advantage is that I have a Pokestop and two gyms nearby. Maybe that's probably why you do not have any Pokemon spawning because the area you are currently at does not allow you to spawn Pokemon.

The most you can do is to travel to a less rural area and Pokemon will begin spawning. You can't really do much unless you move.

This could come as an advantage to you, I've heard if you use an incense whilst there's no pokemon near by, you will get better pokemon like belsprout, eevee, oddish ect rather than pidgeys and ratatas over and over.
