    Any Pokémon that you find or catch during your adventure will have its information registered in the Pokédex. The Pokédex in these titles will actually be part of your Rotom Phone! Your Rotom Phone is also home to Rotom, a Pokémon that can enter into various electric appliances. And your Rotom Phone can do a lot more than serve as a Pokédex!

    I'm so excited to have Rotom Phone because this means Rotom Dex can leave Alola in the Anime and come to Galar!

    this genuinely makes me so happy. I loved Rotom so much and very excited he potentially gets to travel in the anime with Ash to Galar
     
    I remain one of the few people that actually didn't mind Rotom so much in the games. :c But that's mostly because I didn't interact with it much in the first place, orz.

    I can get behind this, though! I think having a more mobile Rotom is a cute idea. Plus, attaching it to your bike?? And it can do other stuff?? That's a plus in my book. :o
     
    ...I'm here hoping Rotom doesn't speak in the game this time. But he probably will. He's cute, though.
     
    I'm happy about this. I mentioned somewhere here on the forum that I would love to see more Rotom forms. This also confirms my suspicion that GF is trying to make Rotom into Whisper (from Yo-kai Watch) for Pokémon.

    I'm looking forward for more tech that Rotom can change into.
     
    Kinda makes sense that they'd make the PokeDex into a phone/a phone app instead of a separate device like it used to be, what with smartphones being such a part of life these days.

    Seems that the electro-bike may be what substitutes HMs this time, although I could be wrong and we'll see what ends up happening

    There's a time and place for a bike now! :V

    I don't mind them using Rotom again, but they need to properly playtest. It just spoke way too much which got in the way of functionality (e.g. using the map in USUM, and how more annoying getting and using powerups was compared to gen 6). It has potential, so I hope they took comments of the general playerbase on board.
     
    I think the Rotom phone is cute! I love Rotom and it's always nice to see older Pokemon get revamped in new ways. :)
     
    I love Rotom. <3 I just hope they heard the feedback from players and will tone down the advice and such. This could be a chance to mend my li'l plasmic partner's reputation. ;_;

    ...Actually, this raises a question - is Rotom Dex in this game going to have the same personality and speech mannerisms as it did in S/M/US/UM? I mean, that's probably gonna be it, but it doesn't make sense if you think about it - the Rotom inside the Galar Pokedex is probably a different individual than the one inside the Alola Pokedex.

    EDIT: Oh my gosh, what if this Rotom is Alola-Rotom's child?? I doubt they're gonna go this route, though. But if it's not outright contradicted...I may have found my new headcanon.

    It's very odd that the pokedex is part of your phone instead of your phone being part of your pokedex like in previous gens. It's especially wierd considering smartphones have never been mentioned before, at least to my knowledge. I would be severely bummed if this is the only way to use HMs and not just an alternative option. I'd much rather surf on my Drednaw than use an app on my smartphone. Most of all, I hope this is an improvement and enhancement of the rotom dex, and not a low effort appeal to the lowest common denominator, or, even worse, a way to plug their sucky mobile games.
     
    I joked to my friend that they can now play Pokémon GO on their Rotom Phones as well, haha. It's a cute nod to the popularity of Pokémon GO and the device that made that game so popular. I like that it makes Rotom Dex a bit more relevant past his original appearance, as well. Ash could bring Rotom Dex to Galar now!

    Vote now on your Rotom Phones. And everyone voted so hard that Galar caught on fire and burned down.
     
    As long as I can throw my phone at my opponent's pokemon then I see no problem with this at all. Since it's a smartphone I feel like they'll probably bring back the photo mode from SM which I kind of enjoyed and would like to see more done with it, especially now that we'll have wild pokemon in the overworld. I wouldn't be surprised if they use apps on the phone for accessing pokemon home or calling in a Corviknight Uber.

    I loved the Rotom dex!!! And that he spoke and was such a cute friend. I really like that they're utilizing Rotom so much more these days haha, it's such a cool idea. A rotomphone is just a logical reflection of how our world looks like these days - everybody has a smartphone, after all. We had phones in the pokegear all the way since gen 2, and now they're making the very best of this idea with a RotomPhone ^^

    I'm on board with the smartphone aspect for the same reason; that makes sense in 2019. Rotom piping up every time I walk somewhere new saying something like "hey why don't you go check out.../speak to.../remember what the professor said to do! ;) etc" however was, for me, one of the worst features added. I want to play the game at my own pace and at the very least Rotom's speaking capabilities should be able to be turned off for a significant portion of us that see it as pure hand-holding. Rotomdex made SM feel like a never ending tutorial.

    Rotom Dex looks like Samsung-type Pokemon, it looks really nice! I am hoping Sword and Shield anime will have Ash carrying of Rotom-Phone and have a female voice instead of male one.
     
    I'm indifferent to Rotom, buuut I'm excited for it's features!

    Every single gen I'm still so thankful we get more travel methods. LOL
