ROMs on Mac?

Well, I must admit that I'm a newbie when it comes to ROMs, and so far google searches aren't really helping me as the majority of them deal with PC issues. I managed to figure out how to play FireRed on my computer, but what I'd really like to do is play Shiny Gold, and I can't seem to figure that out. I downloaded the ROM but VisualBoyAdvance does not recognize the file. What step(s) am I missing?

    Any help is much appreciated!

Yeah, you're going to need to patch the ROM. (It's the almost legal way we share hacks)

If you're on the Mac, I recommend this application.
It's a .jar file, so it'll run on your Mac even though it says that it requires Windows.
    Hope this helps!

So first download the patch that you want from the game thread, then use the application above to patch the patch to the ROM, and then it should be ready to play.

Thanks, I got it to work. I have another problem, though...I can save the game and it'll come back to it after I close the ROM, but if I actually quit the Visual Boy Advance application my save data won't be there. Is there a way to fix this?

You should've read how to patch a rom, and play LiquidCrystal since it is complete (unlike ShinyGold).

    *Sigh* Here you go.
    Options>Emulator>Save Type>Flash 128K

Thanks! It's working now. And is LiquidCrystal really better than ShinyGold? I haven't heard of it before...

Shiny Gold may not be complete, but to me it is far better.
