4th Gen Resetting for a shiny fossil.

Okay, I have given a Skull Fossil to the doctor in the Mining Museum, went out, came back in, & saved the game in front of the desk. If I get the Cranidos from the doctor & it's not shiny, can I reset and keep trying until it is a shiny? I've noticed that the nature and (sometimes) the gender of the Cranidos change, so I would think that a shiny would be a possibility.

Sounds very possible. Yes, i think you might be able to get a shiny fossil poke, but the chance is the same as any other (1 in 8000-ish).

I've heard that people have gotten shiny starters & shiny legendaries by resetting, but it took a lot of resets.

Another question: If you migrate a shiny Pokemon, will that reduce your chances of finding another shiny in D/P?

Chance of being shiny is 1 in 8192, so good luck.

Yeah, anything can be shiny (even trainer/battle tower pokemon =( ) but the only way to have increased chances is chaining.

Yeah, Fossils are the third hardest to get Shiny, behind Running Legends and Safari Pokémon.
A pity, because some of the shinies I like are fossils. D:

Nope, nothing affects chances of shinyness other than chaining, and that only affects the chain itself.

I wander what the chances are of getting a shiny adamant Cranidos...
With wild Pokemon, you can use an adamant Abra, but this doesn't work with the fossils.

So do I. I have yet to get a shiny (besides trade & migration) on my Diamond Version.
I have managed to encounter a shiny Gastly on my Pearl Version, however.

this should work it worked for me twice in my Daiond i got a shiyn carndios in 3 days and in my Pearl i got a shiny shieldon 3 days too

And you shouldn't. Just keep reseting your DS, until you get a shiny one. I'm doing this at every legendary pokemon, so I get all 31 possible IV's at stats, that I want.
