Hey I'm new here so I made an introduction post on asking how to make a Pokemon Rom Hack, so there are 3 Questions, I was asked to ask this hub for some advice.

    1. Which Generation is recommended for Rom Hacking? Generation III or Generation IV?

Generation III is the common game for Rom Hacking, either Emerald or Fire Red specifically, and there are some that have Platinum or HGSS, and I heard Generation V is the most difficult to modify, I've been using FEBuilder for the Fire Emblem Sacred Stones Rom Hack I've put on hold, and I'm gonna need the recommended tools for Pokemon Rom Hacking.

    2. What Tools are recommended?

I've taken a look at Advance Map and I could be able to play around with it, but I'm gonna need a tutorial for Movement Permissions and Events and Text Editing, by the way I've been seeing sprite editing tutorial videos and to be brutally honest modifying Trainer Sprites isn't as difficult as Fire Emblem Animations.

    3. Is Pokemon Rom Hacking more difficult than Fire Emblem Rom Hacking?

Like I said I've been using FEBuilder for about a month, and I've been wanting to make a Rom Hack to train to become a Game Developer, which is easier said than done, considering you need some training to learn how to make the assets and write the code functions, I noticed so many bugs in my Fire Emblem Rom Hack and I didn't know how to fix them on a broken Rom File, and I don't want to start all over, but I've seen tutorials of Pokemon Rom Hacking and you need a lot of tools to make a full on Rom Hack, I don't have RPG Maker so I can't make a full on fangame of it on PC.

If you have answers, leave a comment below.

Q: Which generation is recommended for romhacking? Generation III or Generation IV?

A: To start with, Gen. III for obvious reasons. There are several tutorials, patches and some base roms instead in Gen. IV all the previous ones are scarce. However, I once read that romhacking on DS is similar to romhacking on GBA, I am yet to check that.

    Q: What tools are recommended?

A: You definitely gonna need a hex editor. The most used is HxD, there are many more but I don't think they make a big difference actually. For scripting, you'll need eXtreme Script Editor and Free Space Finder. If you want to change the graphics there are several tools like Overworld Editor, NLZ-GBA Advance, Advance Palette Editor, Nameless Sprite Editor, Character Maker Pro, Advance Series and many more. It's crucial that you have a multifunctional editor like G3HS, G3T or Pokémon Game Editor. That's all the essentials.

Q: Is Pokémon romhacking more difficult than Fire Emblem romhacking?

A: I don't really know, but it will be if you wanna make an ambitious hackrom.
