R4DS, AR, TTDS or Other?

Umm, I don't know which section this should go in.. So I'll put it here for now.

Ok, I've always wanted to somehow cheat on games, x] Yes, I am kind of a cheater, Anyways, I've heard about these DS games can hold up to like 100 games in one, and you can include cheats in it.

I was thinking I should buy one of these, Please tell me which are the following are easy to use, cheap and very populaur:

- R4DS (Revolution for DS)
- AR (Action Replay)
- TTDS (don't know the meaning x3)
- Other (Please state in thread)

From what I know, asides from the AR (which is just a cheating device), the rest of them are flash carts which are just like your normal USB flash drives except for the DS. The amount each of them hold is dependent on the size of the memory card you have inserted into it. These of course involve the downloading of the ROM files for the game, (which Nintendo still states is illegal last I heard), and loading them onto the flash cart. Most of the devices are pretty easy to use, just drop and drag from your PC.

Popular carts I've heard of are mainly the R4DS, M3 and Supercard DS. I'm not sure how good each one is I'm afraid, having never used them. I do know the R4 comes with Action Replay though. P.S. TTDS stands for Top Toy DS I believe, but I'm not 100% on it.

If you're going to get one, I'd recommend finding someone who owns one of these devices and asking them about the pros and cons of the device and if you can, test it out before you put your money anywhere.

CycloDS is the clear winner currently out of all flash carts with the best support and the most numbers of features. It has the best support because unlike its competitors, its team is not Chinese and speak English as a first language, I believe so they will always will be able to give you a fast response form what I've heard. It is however, the second most expensive one currently second to Acekard R.P.G. which isn't worth it much. EDGE is a clone card which works similar to CycloDS and is sold for less than half the price of an CycloDS and is also compatible with CycloDS skins.

I personally have a Supercard DS ONE which is about half the price of a CycloDS and it had basically the same features but its GUI is slightly slow but it doesn't matter because there are easy ways to make it faster. The team that runs the company has been in the business for years now and it doesn't seem like they'll be stopping anytime soon so I guess they're a good choice too.

DSTT (Top Toy DS), Acekard 2 and EDGE (as I mentioned above) are all great budget cards. They all have the general features but I think the winner out of the three is the EDGE.

R4s used to be popular and still are but I don't advise you to purchase one of them because they've come to the end of their line and they won't be getting any more updated which means many future games won't function properly. Besides this, there are also many fakes on the market and there's a rumored final firmware ever coming out this month which may harm clones and fakes as well as the DS itself. I heavily do not advise you to get any R4s or anything similar since they could potentially damage your machine.

Practically all flash carts currently come with a built in cheat function so I doubt you'll be wanting to include ARDS in one of your choices to buy. ;)

As Kagami ☆ said, the amount of games are totally dependent on the size of the MicroSD card you use. I recommend a Kingston 4 GB Class-6 MicroSD SDHC. It should hold as many games as you ever will want to play. The class is important because it is how fast the games will run. A class-6 SDHC will run faster than a class-4. Some games such as Castlevania games run slowly on some flashcarts.

The M3DS Real is *really* the only flash card worth owning. SDHC support, GBA support, Rumble support, RAM support and with the new M3 Sakura interface? Any other choice is just silly :X

Ive owned R4DS and TTDS, one my friends owns R4DS and i must say it all depends on YOUR OWN TASTE since you probably don't know much about them id say to go for any of them since they are MOSTLY the same and i doubt you are going to have THAT much of problems since probably all you are going to do on it is play games for what you say.

All the webs for them have the DL for the latest plus some older system files (which as Sawaa said M3DS has a new cool one but you should see my custom mod on R4DS (yes i have a lot of times in my hands + my pc to go around learn the bit of how to mod it which is easy per say with some bases i had laying around)).

Now let's go like this about what Eon said, it is true R4 and even M3 (yes M3, and pretty soon) are not making more copies of their flashcart and the new FW will do all the mentioned also TTDS is greatly buggy (tell me, i had one =.=) but you can play you're games on it so yeh, you can say it works hehe.

CycloDS between some others are the most promising looking flashcarts at the moment but unlucky me DS got broke with no fix (well, the fix is to buy a new one) and i sold my PSP which isn't what we are talking about so yeah, buy either CycloDS or M3DS since those are the best ones for now.

And Eon the only way for you to know that much is to be inside a community of these tipes as i am XD

M3 REAL DS! :)

i have one tis awsome. two of my friends have an r4 and a ace card, they bother stuff up from time to time. so dont purchase one of those, r4 are probably the most common but they are by far the worst. dont buy one.

M3 Real, on the other hand is awsome it does all the same stuff, but with added options, it comes with Moonshell (media player) built in and is quite awsome.

Actually, just don't get the R4, it has run its time and is practically dead. I know because i have one, none of the new games that are out are going to work on it, i somehow worked it and i got final fantasy iv to play, but with the firmware supposedly coming out god knows when, it'll only render the R4 as a useless flash cart. With pokemon platinum coming out soon along with other choicely games for the DS, I would advise on getting a Supercard or Cyclo, along with 4gb or higher microSD.

IF you happen to receive a flash cart, do look at the homebrew apps they come out with. DSOrganize and the web browser are one of the most useful applications for the DS, sort of like an iphone wannabe, but at a cheaper cost and only available at wifi hotspots. go figure.

Ima help you on help you on that one. Go into www.r4ds.com (official r4 web) and download the driver in there, copy all the files into the root of a brand new or formatted micro SD and paste them in there, if it doesn't has one, create a file named GAMES and go to w/e page you want to use to DL the games and past teh .nds in there.

When you put the cart in your DS there will be various options, middle one for entering moonshell, left one to go the games repository and the right one to boot your slot 2 (say if you have a GBA game and want to play without having to take out your R4).

It's not really that hard but if you really want to return it then get an M3, more support and will get to play all the latest game.

Since talking about the other stuff is prohibited i will leave it there and go make some HW, i have to wake up early @ about 5Am and hook into town hall for some stuff there >.<
