    Question:
How do you know if the pokemon you own are "legit"/"authentic"?
How can some one else tell if your pokemon is "legit"/"authentic"?
    What is a hacked pokemon?
    What is an un-legit/un-authentic pokemon?

I'm pretty new to Diamond and Pearl so dont realy understand what people are going on about when they go on about this junk.

Well ok... apreciate your replys people.

Besides nintendo event pokemon, it's actually hard to tell...check for suspicious ID/OT like maybe it's ID was like 12345. See if the pokemons stats are a bit overpowered, or maybe it's moveset.

A hacked pokemon, means you used a cheating device... (such as gameshark or action replay) to obtain it.

A un-legit/un-authentic is the same thing, people online like to use the word "hacked"

Great answer, thanks for clearing things up!
I shall steer clear of such pokemons!

    Many thanks

Just to add, that you can't deduce a pokemon is hacked from the ID as there are more than 99999 copies of the game being sold, therefore there is bound to be a chance that someone does get the number 12345 or 11111,

And if the pokemons has been overpowered it doesn't matter as stats are reset to what they should be when placed in the box.

So the only way for a pokemon to be hacked is, the ball it is in, or if it has a legal move in it's moveset.

those tell tale signs are the best, also check out wat other pokemon in there team are like, people like to show of shinies and legendaries and the like.
But some people can completely pull the wool over ure eyes by, recreating there trainer name and id onto a pokemon and also there secret id. allowing them to bypass nintendo at official tournaments and the like.

A friend of mine started up her game, and the trainer ID number she received was "00013".

Anyway, I did encounter a Snorlax on the Global Trading System with the moves "Sky Uppercut" and "Extremespeed".

    With all due respect,
