Problem Catching Beldum

I'm incredibly aggravated at the moment. Today's swarming Pokemon in my game is Beldum. They are on route 228 and show up at level 53. The only attack they know is take down, which recoils.

I'll encounter Beldum, send out Heatran or Cacturne, and throw a quick ball. The quick ball doesn't even shake, and Beldum breaks free. I then either weaken it to about a fourth of its strength and throw ultra/dusk balls at it, or I just continuously throw ultra/dusk balls at it while the recoil from its take down dwindles its own health.

My problem is that I have been completely unsuccessful at catching Beldum before it kills itself with recoil. Usually, the balls will not shake, or shake once before breaking open. This seems unusual because the other Pokemon like Rhydon and Cacturne that share similar levels as Beldum could be caught by quick balls or eventually ultra/dusk balls.

Has anyone else had this problem or is my game just crap?

    Thanks.

i would suggest getting a Pokémon that can put it to sleep or give it some other "harmful" status. just keep at it and do your best. thats all i have to say. i never really had any problems getting one, but you might just be lucky enough to be getting some pain in the butts. lol just do your best. :D

Try Night-time/Cave + Dusk Ball + Status effect.
Or if you can... disable Take Down, xD Then it'd use Struggle. Or Double Team yourself up, just for the miss effect and keep throwing those Balls at it!

i would suggest using a pokemon with sleep powder or hypnosis, put it to sleep, attack it then throw a ultra ball, or just try throwing a quickball as soon as it shows up you will suprised how many time a quickball works on its first go, i caught my palkia with a quickball which im still surprised at

I know this, but I already pointed out that quick balls wouldn't so much as shake once. I had hoped you'd infer I threw them the moment I saw the Pokemon.

I wanted to avoid making the Pokemon struggle. The recoil is way too bad for that.

Thank you! I'm not one to use non-damage inflicting moves. I have no defense besides potions and stuff... I just pulled my Spiritomb out and used hypnosis. I got lucky since take down doesn't affect Spiritomb!

    I appreciate the help. Though, I feel like a n00b, now... :(

My problem with Beldum is that it's got a 3 catch rate... it thinks it's a legendary...
