Until today, I had no idea that PokeRus existed in Gold/Silver/Crystal... I didn't think PokeRus was obtainable until R/S/E came out. I was playing my Pokemon Silver version which has been reset many times but has 102 hours on my current file... and I was raising a Venonat so I could evolve it into Venomoth because I need the data on my PokeDex-- it's on lv.30 right now.
I had just raised my Venonat to lv.30 and went to a Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon. Nothing special ever happens when healing Pokemon, so I was watching TV while I was healing them, and repeatingly clicking A. When I looked down at my Gameboy, the nurse was saying "...but we can't say anymore at Pokemon Centers." or something like that. I had remembered hearing about PokeRus in R/S/E, but I wasn't sure if that's what it was on Silver...
It puzzled me, so I saved the game and turned it off so I could get online and see what it was. I went to google and typed in "PokeRus in Pokemon Silver." Sure enough, PokeRus does exist in G/S/C. I turned my GB back on to see if any of my Pokemon had signs of the virus, like the status saying "PKRS" rather than "OK." but I didn't see it... though I mainly was looking at my Venonat. I walked outside of the Pokemon Center and got a call from Prof. Elm, saying that there is an odd thing called PokeRus; it is a virus that infects Pokemon but doesn't seem to do anything-- it goes away after a couple of days.

So, apparently I have a Pokemon with PokeRus... I'd like to know for sure which one it was so I could spread it to my other Pokemon. I think it's suppose to double stats as a Pokemon levels up, or something like that...

It should have a symbol in its stats. Pokerus is amazing. A level 60 pokemon can obliterate a level 80 pokemon if you take advantage of the virus.

it will soon spread to your entire team. It will take a long time (than usual) to raise their levels. It's worth it. One time my Scizor got 11 attack points in a single level.

it will. don't worry. Once a pokemon gets infected it can't get infected again.

I think a week. Better start the long process of training, lol. If you want to find Pokerus again go to where Bug Catcher Arnie is and look for Yanma. They have a better "rus" percentage.

It didn't go away in my case, and over half of the Pokemon in my previous Silver file had it. I had also experienced problems with using the in-game PC. Does using the duplication glitch also increase your odds of getting it? I used that a lot in that file.

I don't know... I heard somewhere if you put it in the PC then it will permanently have it... idk.

Lol, I made a thread exactly like this a long time ago. ^^ I even wasn't paying attention and looked up right as Nurse Joy was finishing her explanation, just like you did.

If I recall correctly, in GSC, there's a little dot on the blue stat screen near their name if they have Pokerus. (Although I swear I remember it saying PKRS somewhere in their stats...I dunno.) I spread it through a lot of my Pokemon and stored some of them, so I think some of my Pokemon in Crystal still have it.

Yeah, I later noticed that they said POKeRUS under the status, which usiually says OK. All my party Pokemon have it now, and I've managed to get my lv.61 Blissy to 600 HP. Maybe I can get it up to 900...

i have a funny run in with pokerus. so first im looking for Gameshark cheats and i find one called PokeRus. i thought it meant poke are us and everyone would be a pokemon... i was wrong, lol. that's how i learned about Pokerus in general.

    i know i'm a loser.

Yes, my team on my Silver got Pokerus too. I actually took very good advantage of it. I found that if you hatch a Pokemon, it grows stronger. So I made my team out of Pokemon from eggs, gave them Pokerus, and raised them. No one has beaten me since.

that's actually a very good idea... do you think that if you have the two parents infected that effects the baby?

How can you tell that your pokemon (from eggs) has pokerus...?

does it even affect the baby.......?

I suppose it would if you had a PokeRUS infected Pokemon in your party or something. I'm not too clued up on the whole PokeRUS thing =/

I got Pokerus I weird way (and this worked in R/S) I threw all 3 GSC version games and when I turned it on my whole team was effect with Pokerus and I go to my PC and all of my Pokemon had it and I was shocked
