As all of you know in pokemon games, the sound that the pokemon makes at the beginning of the battle are all screeches, grunts, and weird sound.

    For example Pikachu:

Ingame sound: *some weird sound I cant even type*

But in the pokemon anime, they sound totally different. And waaaaaaaaaay better.

Pikachu's anime sound: pika pika pikachu! (depends, sometimes different)

So I am suggesting to match the sounds of the pokemon anime to the games.

    Anyone up for this idea?

Actualy in x-y pikachu had his screech changed along with a few others, i would have to guess to limit confusion. I personally like there game screeches though, so seeing them go would be sad for me. On the other hand it wouldn't make me mad eather.

I'd honestly be in favor of ditching the anime-esque cries again, honestly. The connection to the anime this implies is just awkward.

I think the reason most of the Pokemon cries aren't like their anime cries is because Pokemon names vary between different langauges for the most part. For example, Aggron's Japanese name is Bossgodora, while its German name is Stolloss. Charizard's Japanese name is Lizardon/Rizardon, and its French name is Dracaufeu. Excadrill's Japanese name is Doryuuzu.

Those all sound nothing alike when you say them. If you use the English names as basis for the anime cries, it doesn't make sense in other countries. Or you have to make different cries for each langauge version. And Game Freak doesn't wanna spend even more time and money on making cries for all the different langauges; they have enough stuff to deal with.

Besides, Zekrom and Hydreigon have great sounds as is.

To be honest, I actually preferred in the Origins anime where the Pokemon just had grunty, growly noises rather than actual speech. I do love the idea that some can learn to speak with practise, something onto Team Rocket's Meowth in the actual anime.

That said, I kinda like how they are now already so I'd be happy if they weren't changed. That's just my opinion though :)

Actually, I always loved the cries the pokémon make in the game, but I've never liked how the anime did it with the pokémon just repeating their names. Sometimes the pokémon in the anime just sound really awkward, but the cries in the game you can never go wrong with.

I distinctly remember a moment relevant to this from back when I was a kid. Unlike a lot of Pokémon fans, I played and beat the original Red version before I even knew there was an anime to go with it. I even had a knack for recognizing a pokémon's cry so I could effectively level-grind even if my attention was split between my Game Boy and my TV or something.

When I heard that a Pokémon anime existed, I was excited to watch it. I even remember that my first episode was "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak". I was a little put off on the show for a couple of reasons (Ash is a moron), but mainly for one thing...why was Pikachu constantly repeating his name instead of making that cool squeaking noise he did in the games, and why was that Gastly actually speaking in human tongue instead of making that cool sparkle noise he makes in the games?

Needless to say, I much prefer the in-game cries to the silly anime voices.

The anime is nostalgic to me and there is something about hearing Pokemon saying their names that I like, somewhat.

But to be perfectly honest, I've always preferred the little noises they make ingame, instead. Yeah, they changed it for Pikachu, because Pikachu is the mascot of the entire game, and anime tie ins, and what not. (Not to mention they didn't have to change it between languages because... well, Pikachu's name is the same in every language, iirc.) But I'd prefer they didn't change anything else- it'd just be kind of awkward to me.

Real life animals don't shout out their names when they cry, so why should Pokemon?

Also as No Chance Without Zekrom mentioned, each language has different names for same species of Pokemon. Pikachu only worked because it's universally called Pikachu and is arguably most well known Pokemon in the entire series.

I find that Pokémon's cries have a distinct synergy with them. I guess it's because I've played the games a lot, and barely watched the animé, but even so, a creature saying its own name... I can tolerate it, but it's not exactly a great idea. I think the best thing would be for the games to stay as-is in terms of battle - although if it goes any further on the party interaction side of things, including some of the animé stuff could be really good, especially for fans of the show - but if they could use the same / similar cries when they actually cry in the animé, that'd be really cool, especially for fans of the games. Not saying take the animé stuff out of the animé, just give them the ability for both so that the game sounds don't just seem like some random soundbyte.

I don't know about you guys, but some Pokémon cries really get to me. Fire Red being my first game, and the bird trio being the first legendaries I caught, hearing Articuno's, Zapdos' or Moltres' cry just has a certain impact to it. In general, you know you're in for a badass battle when you hear a distinct Legendary's cry.

(I mean, some of them, maybe not so much. Considering that Mewtwo's cry sounds nearly identical to Parasect's...)
