I presume based on this some aspects of the story revolving around Team Rocket's activities were also further elaborated on or otherwise imprioved? I asked because the thing that holds me back from enjoying a lot of gen 1 remakes is no one seems to want to actually make Team Rocket have an actual motive behind their crimes. Yes making money is what they argue, they are a mafia sure sure, but the whole scheme they planned in Gold and Silver with the radio signal at the lake of rage gave them presence which can make them a legit worldwide threat. Not to mention that its at least assumed the anime's storyline relating to Mewtwo was soft-canon to the games, which is further reinforced by how in Ultra Sun/Moon, Giovanii is seen with a mewtwo during the Rainbow Rocket story. There was also a lot of hints of a war before the game's events due to a scrapped Soldier trainer class in the Nintendo Gigaleak a while back.
I'm not interested in adding connections to much later games in the series, because those games didn't exist when this one was released.

I may GENTLY slot some new unimportant "things specific characters are involved in" into the story as I add more areas based on beta content to the game. However, this will be limited, and is planned to be possible to turn off. For example, I plan on making a new options page to turn off the Champ Arena and other new areas (simply won't be accessible visually unless you turn them back on) in the next release. This is so people who do not wish to play with the new content can turn it off mostly if they wish. There are some other areas I am planning on adding that probably will SLIGHTLY flesh out team rocket's operations as the game played out. But again...it will only be apparent if you engage with these new areas, and the game will seem the same as original if you avoid entering them or turn them off entirely.

The main feature for the next release is the moltres dungeon meant to be near cinnabar. This of course, since it makes moltres available a lot earlier, will be possible to turn off. Similarly, if you just avoid it and go to victory road, moltres will still be there if you haven't fought moltres in the new area yet.

I love the game. Having over 45 hours on it and completing the dex i can definitely say thats its such an amazing way to experience gen 1. The only bad thing imo would be the grinding until you can get more rare candies in cinnabar in a certain way. Some help on the mewtwo changing event would be great since i have no clue where im supposed to be despite the top secret item telling me. I went everywhere i thought its important, nothing.

Edit:omg i finally found the event. The area to put the item in is so hard to spot without looking at it.

If it makes you feel better I don't intend on putting anything as difficult to solve as the puzzles to enter the secret lab in other areas. This is just supposed to be one of the last places you go in the game and supposed to be hard to enter.

As for the "grinding"...the game was balanced around using 1 team of pokemon. It gives you a bunch of rare candies as you play through so you could maybe swap out a pokemon or two, but it's not really designed for raising a bunch of different pokemon as you play through the story. If you want to raise a bunch or catch em all, you can do it easily once you beat the game. Or do a lot of battles in the safari zone. Or...you have to start grinding.
