This morning when I turned on my computer, opened up Internet Explorer, and checked my homepage. I saw little Pikachu beside a topic title as 'TV's Worst Cartoons.' So I decided to peak my head in and look around. Pokemon is now stated as one of the worst because of a few things. I used to hate Pokemon, but now I only watch the active series and the movies. Normally, it's only the battling but it's just the two things stated.

What do you think about this article?

I agree when people say that Pokemon doesn't have much of a plot, but it doesn't have NO plot. The plot is...uhm, well they're not wandering around aimlessly, they know where they're going. They travel around the region so Ash can collect the badges to enter the league and become a Pokemon master, whatever that is. Its a rather loose plot, but a plot all the same.
    "Darwinist premise" hmm?

Well I can definitatly agree that it doesn't have a complex plot most of the time. But I like it that way, its not supposed to be a murder mystery series or anything.

Pokemon has been going for 10 years, has about 500 episodes and still has good ratings. They must be doing something right.

Maybe we've all been a victim of some Psychic or Ghost moves. I still like it after 10 years of repetitive plots :D

In Japan it's called a cartoon, but here...It's called anime. :P
I'm kind of tired of immature people who think that the show's "kiddy", or "noobish". They don't understand how popular it is.

Hmm? It may be popular, but it doesn't mean it's good.

I've seen many people say that the anime isn't that great anymore.

How could he hate Jem?! Half the list, I agree, the other half, I don't. Pokemon has its faults, yes, but the quality has improved in the past few years. No dispute there. But once again, just another elite lording over his intellect.

And hating Captain Planet? Have you no shame, sir?

They are all more retarded than my brother and he was actually named idiot of the millenium by the mayor. Let's meke feedback to them and tell them how they zuck with a capital Z

Just been reading the same thread on Bulbagarden and have just noticed this

    "Pokémon"

"Pokémon" had no story, only a Darwinist premise: Ash Ketchum, a young man and aspiring "Pokémon master," travels around with his pet Pikachu, advancing levels as he goes. Ash has a bunch of young friends, and they wander aimlessly, looking for adventure. As a genre, anime cartoons are held in high regard -- for character development, mature themes, complex plots and either smooth animation or really scenic backgrounds. "Pokémon" had none of these qualities. And wasn't not alone: The "Super Mario Bros." and "Pac-Man" cartoons also fell flat, which is what happens when you base a saga on a two-dimensional video game. Now just imagine "Grand Theft Auto: The Animated Series" -- that would be something.

The person who wrote this article obviously doesn't know that Pokemon is still going.

Yes, I guess people just don't realize how popular Pokemon is right now.

it made me laugh that it bad mouths them all then has a link to where you can buy the episodes on DvD

It has a plot, maybe not super deep but not very many cartoons have or had one. Plus he kept ratting on thea nimation, whichw as at its best for the time when the episodes were first premiering, i bet if he watched it now, he'da gree the animation has improved.

To be fair, I have to agree with the complaint about Pokemon not having much of a plot. But the fact is, Pokemon is easily the most successful video game-based cartoon, or even media in general, in history. The show's been around for more than ten years. And it shows no signs of ending any time soon. Yet somehow, it's dying down? I don't think so...

What really made me laugh is his comments on Transformers. He's obviously never seen the 86 movie.

But then again, this is the type of stuff you'd expect to find on msn. Uninspired, uneducated reviewers. MSN is much like Wikipedia. Little to no research buried in a sea of hype and theories.

The plot in episodes are normally small. But basically, it's always the same plot. Walk around to certain places to win badges, basically. But some of the episodes on the way seem extremely pointless, or are just boring fillers.

Such as episodes with Team Aqua, Magma and Galaxy. We all know nothing will ever happen with them, outside of their sub story that'll be meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I could go on. But that's not even the point.

This guy's basically trying to tell readers that Justice League Unlimited was better than the animated Transformers Movie. That's the big issue.

Pokemon has more of a plot than most of the Cartoon, Cartoon crap that's infesting the rest of Cartoon Network's line up.

    *sneers at Camp Lazlo*

Yeah, but the thing is that those shows at least don't pretend to have a plot.

Pokemon does. But my biggest issue with the show is how the story is so unresolved. Nothing seems to ever get done. When progress is made in the plot, some gimmick happens to put everything back to square one. That's just annoying.

But that still doesn't make Pokemon one of the worst cartoons. Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals was one of the worst cartoons ever made. Not Pokemon. And people who have seen it definitely know what I mean.

Love the videogame, hate the show.when it first started i loved it.then as I grew I thought hmm mabey I just outgrew the show.no to my horror its just the same thing over and over again ash an co wander around discover something or get a badge.and team rocket goes flying off again.oh and eventually he'll let one of his pokemon leave to do something else other then help him cough, squirtle, cough ,charizard, cough, pigeot, for me it got boring along time ago,and now the voice acting is just taking dives.not one of the worst cartoons.but deffintly one that could do better then what its doing now.even if ratings are good

I have watched all the old and new pokemon episodes so far and I can say that it is not going to end any time soon. Yeah, the plot and story is boring but it is the new pokemon and the battles we like. I am a big fan of the game and the series. The story line is simply to catch all the pokemon you find, make new friends(Brock & Misty, etc.) and rivals (Gray & Richie, etc.), and travel to new places. It is something you would watch as a child and could never stop watching, this adventure of Ash and pikachu.

Exactly, as a child. As the generation of kids who were affected by pokemon grows up, the ratings for pokemon will die down.

I used to watch the old episodes, those were actually good, but the new ones are boring.
