[Completed] Pokemon - Mahogany

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Mahogany
Pokemon - Mahogany
From the creator of Pokemon - Aether and Chaos, and, Pokemon - Wild Lands
About the Game:
Pokemon Mahogany is a refreshing take on the classic Gen 2 games, Gold and Silver.
A whole new region awaits with plenty to do! The game aims to recreate a classic playstyle and feel from start to finish.

Story:
The story follows the classic styling of Gen 1 and 2. Obtain 8 league badges, become the Pokemon League Champion and catch as many as you can along the way!
Team Rocket also make an appearance, causing trouble to Pokemon researchers and trainers.

What's Different?
- A whole new region to explore
- All gen 1 and 2 Pokemon (expect gen 1 legendaries and unown)
- Each Pokemon has two forms that can be caught (expect legendaries)
- Each form is slightly more suited to either offensive or defensive battling
- There are now labs scattered throughout the region where you can partake in research tasks/quests
- Completing tasks provide you with items and access to new areas to catch more Pokemon on your journey.
- HMs are now items (except FLY). Additionally, you don't need any HM to complete the game.
- Trainers can be battled against as many times as you like.
- Pokemon you defeat in the wild can drop crafting items.
- You can now craft items. Crafting recipes are obtained mainly through quests/tasks.

Cheers!

Yes, it is complete.
Although, depending on any bugs or things people find, I may change/update.
Great game so far! I really love the way you have made the routes and towns. I have only 2 badges so far but it has been some time since I've felt a sense of adventure as this one. Like within just 2 gyms, I feel like I have travelled a lot. Maybe it has also do with the fact that the maps feel bigger to look at than regular games. Also I was fairly surprised to see no pokemon abilities in the game. Is there a specific reason to it? I think having the 2nd form of a pokemon possess a different ability might have made it even cooler. Also it is cool that you can rebattle any trainer which makes grinding easier.

Few suggestions I have for the game are: TMs are rarely available or they feel scarce due to bigger maps. I feel like I have only 2 good TMs so far. Also they're single use so huge bummer there. Other suggestion was to make more water types be available on land, especially the beach in research park which is gate-keeping good mons and quest completion due to a lack of fishing rod. We can get other starters but just not being able to get Squirtle is odd. Last and final one was to maybe try and add gen-4 evos for mons like Elekid, Magby, Magnemite, etc. But of course these are just suggestions and if they make you alter your vision for the game, by all means ignore them.

Edit: Also make the first line in your post which says game is completed and add (Main story complete) in your thread title. It will help a lot.

Thanks. I always try to make it feel like an adventure, much like in my past two games, Aether and Chaos, and, Wild Lands.
No abilities as it's meant to replicate Gen 2. Gen 2 is very basic, which is where its charm comes from.

TMs can be purchased later in the game. Much like in the original gens, you don't get a lot of TMs, particularly early in the game.
Minimising TMs means Pokemon are reliant on their movesets, which is part of their strength/weakness. It's a balancing tool.

You get a fishing rod from doing one of the first quests in Petalwind Town. Additionally, you can surf from the get go without restriction.
In fact, there are so many Water-type Pokemon in comparison to any other, if anything, I should minimise the access to them.

Most Pokemon are hidden behind research tool areas until later in the game. Which is the whole point of the game. Depending on the research tool you choose, you have different access to Pokemon earlier. This way, you can replay it and choose a different team potential. Squirtle can be caught before the second gym, if you have the right tool.

This is game is a throw back to Generation 2. No Pokemon from after Gen 2 are intended to be in it.

Thanks for the suggestions and review.
