    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon - Coastal Version V.1.6Pokemon - Coastal Version
Welcome to Pokemon Coastal Version, my first ROM Hack! After six months of learning and trial and error, I'm proud to present this project. While there may be some bugs and collision errors, I believe it holds up well. If you enjoy it, please let me know, and if you find any issues, your feedback is appreciated.

Explore the Fukala Region, a series of islands to the far west recently discovered by the Pokemon League. As a trainer, your mission is to test out the brand-new Gyms. Discover the secrets of these tropical islands, but be cautious—some inhabitants are hostile towards the Pokemon League and may wish to see it fall.

Pokemon Coastal is a Fire Red ROM hack that stays true to the Gen 3 experience. The only addition from future generations is one Pokemon for a Gym Leader, which becomes available to the player. Apart from this, enjoy the classic FireRed experience in a new region. Three Legendary Pokemon are also available, hidden off the main path.

This hack is challenging and may require grinding at certain points, especially beyond the seventh Gym. However, I believe the difficulty is balanced up to that point.

I am not a sprite artist, so I used sprites of established characters to represent new ones. For example, the Gym Leaders are based on people I know in real life but use sprites from existing Gym Leaders or Elite Four members. Blaine's sprite represents a character named Azure, and Maxie's sprite from Emerald is used for Gym Leader #8, who is based on a friend. Keep in mind that these characters are different from the original ones whose sprites are used.

    Documentation
Documentation for the game has finally been finished. It's a little shorthanded because I've been focused on some other stuff recently. It should be good enough though to help people who are stuck on certain portions and don't know where to go or where to find certain items. A better version will be uploaded eventually. If you have any suggestions for things that should be added into the Documentation please let me know!

For a Video Walkthrough I recommend watching DevtheGamer's series on this ROM Hack. He does a nice playthrough with decent commentary. Although recently his Coastal videos haven't had any commentary. Dev, if you are reading this please bring the commentary back. I thrive on people's reactions to my game. For anyone else thinking of doing a video series on my game, please do! I prefer ones with commentary reactions, but even if it's silent gameplay I'll still give you my view!

    Version Fixes
    1.6 Fixes
Dev Comments: Patch 1.6 is just a small patch that fixes a potential softlock in the 6th Gym and allows you to re-enter the Celebi event if you fly out of it for whatever reason. The documentation will not be updated for this patch so refer to the 1.5 docs. I have also slightly lowered the level curve towards the end of the game. As of right now I am relatively happy with the state that Pokemon Coastal Version is in. So, unless other major bugs or softlocks are brought to my attention, I will be fully focusing on my next project. I've started to learn Decomp Hacking using the Pokeemerald Expansion. After that Project I may remake Coastal Version as Coastal Redux, mainly focusing on overhauling the story, but also fixing the abhorrent level curve and adding QOL features.
    - Fixed a softlock in Gym Six + minor changes
    - The time stone reappears in it's original spot so you may re-encounter Celebi if you white out or leave the event for any reason before finishing it.
    - Slightly lowered the level curve towards the end of the game

    1.5 Fixes
Dev Comments: When you load your save after the Elite Four you will appear in New Shore Town and Oak will approach you telling you to go to Nanowatt City. This is the start of a potential Post-Game but is incomplete as of this patch. You can access the lab but nothing will happen after that. Please stay tuned for the V2 patch where that will be complete.
    - Route 3 name fixed (Was incorrectly labeled Sea Route 1)
    - Fixed the softlock on the mountain on the first island. Major changes to Route 1.
    - Increased the variety of Pokémon on Route 1
    - Added text to the Sages to reduce Confusion about where the Prize went.
    - Added Dialogue to the man in the Venopolis Pokémon Center to specify that the Wise Man sage and the Urban Sage are separate people.
    - Added a Daycare to Rocky Heights (Untested. Save before using and report any issues).
    - Trade Evolutions can now be performed with the Link Cable item, available for purchase in the Seafoam Town Pokémon League Store.

    1.4 Fixes
    - Finished Official Documentation
    - Adjustments to Route 1
    - Detail added to the Sea Route east of Wave Break Town
    - Fixed trainer in Dripstone Cave who was set to a story event team(meaning they had a lvl 75 Kyogre).
    - Fixed the Trainer in Victory Road who had a full team of Kakuna
    - Fixed Dialogue Errors, Typos, and Formatting
    - Moved the Move Brothers into Rocky Heights from Route 5
    - Adjusted Wild Pokémon in several areas to increase variety and standardize levels.
    - Changed some Route Names to keep consistency

    1.3 Fixes
Dev Comments: I'd like to apologize for how frequently new patches are coming out in these couple hours since release. I understand it can be frustrating to have to download a new version every couple of hours. As people find bugs and make suggestions I've been trying to implement them as quickly as I can in order to make Pokemon - Coastal Version the best it can be. I promise though that from here a new version will only come out once a week or as necessary depending on the discovery of game breaking bugs and soft-locks. Thank you for your consideration and Thank you all for enjoying Pokemon - Coastal Version.
    - Fixed Dialogue Errors, Typos, and Formatting
    - Fixed Elite Four Elliot's Team
    - Fixed Several Collision errors
    - Fixed a potential soft lock
    - Adjustments to Route 5
    - Adjusted Dripstone Cave encounter rate
    - Reworked Mary's Marsh House

    1.2 Fixes
    - Ghost Town fixed on Town Map. Used to say Pattern Brush
    - Potential Soft Lock in Route 1 fixed
    - Fixed an issue where you couldn't enter Nanowatt City
    - Fixed the Warp Points in Rocky Heights
    - Fixed a Graphical Error in Ghost Town
    - Fixed the Gym Advisor in Steel Dragon City

    1.1 Fixes
    - Fixed Pokémon from non Kanto regions not evolving before getting the Pokedex.
    - Fixed a potential Softlock
    - Corrected some Dialogue Errors and Typos
    - Fixed Several areas in Dripstone Cave that were inaccessible due to turbulent waters.
    - Fixed some Collision Errors
    - Water Stone now works on Feebas

If it's a pure Gen3-based romhack (except for that single mon you've added in from later Gens) then I'll definitely give it a try.
Only 1 question, though. I assume there's no Physical/Special/Status split, am I right? (I ask this cuz I've seen other Gen3 hacks, such as Liquid Crystal, using it).

there is a bug that frozes the game in the little path before narrowat city, i resolved it using the cheat walk through walls to pass on a rock on the beach. This triggers the battle against rival. IT is a great and funny game but too muche rare candies

Hello! I was able to resolve that issue in the 1.1.1 version of the game! Thank you so much for reporting the issue though. If you find any other issues or if that one persists please don't be afraid to post them somewhere for me to see!

That is correct, there is no physical special split in this game.

Quite intriguing! This takes me back to the older days of Pokémon ROM hacking where folks would emphasize building a story, while using mechanics that exist in the vanilla base game. Is there another bug-fix patch on the horizon?
As long as people keep finding and reporting bugs I'll try to fix them and upload new versions! Especially soft locks and game breaking bugs!

Is there a way to get trade evolutions? I was considering catching a scyther and wanted to know if i can evolve it
