4th Gen Poke Radar

In generation IV, in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum only, after getting the National Pokedex, you received an item known as the Pokeradar. Using it will get Pokemon that do not normally to appear be encounterable in that area. However, other Pokemon, of course, have a chance of appearing. If you can keep a chain of the same Pokemon going for awhile, it is possible for a shiny Pokemon to appear much easier. The Pokeradar, however, cannot be used while on a bike, and the Pokeradar chain ends if your chain breaks, or you run away from the Pokemon. The item does see a return in X/Y only, but this time, there are no exclusive Pokemon to be found with it.

Did you use the Pokeradar? What was your highest chain with it? Have you ever found a shiny using the Poke Radar?

I've never been good w/chains... the highest chain I've ever had was probably ten, lmfao. No, I've never gotten a shiny from the Pokeradar, either, I do know if there is one, the grass shines a bit? I've never seen it in person, sadly.

Poke Radar was definitely an interesting item and I did use it a few time but only managed to find 2 shiny Pokemon with it.

The first time I used it was in X and Y since I missed the Gen 4 when it was new. I heard a lot about the Poke Radar from people who played Gen 4 so I couldn't wait to try it out once X and Y came out. I did try it shortly after I got Y and I failed a lot to the point of almost giving up on it. But then I somehow managed to get one chain high enough and I caught a shiny Skiddo. It was a great felling but I never managed to get another shiny with it in Gen 6 even though I tried more than a few times.

As for Gen 4, I managed to get a genuine copy of Pearl earlier this year for a very good price. So after completing the main story I managed to try out the original version of the Poke Radar and after a couple of failures I managed to get my chain to 40/41 and I caught a shiny Shinx. This was a couple of months ago and I didn't have time to try chaining again but I definitely will because I feel like it's easier to do it in Gen 4. I think the 2D graphics are better for chaining since you can see the different types of shaking grass much better/easier than in 3D of Gen 6.
