Here is where you can discuss the anime's take on "The Poseidon Adventure" in "Pokémon Shipwreck."

    My review to come forthwith.

This only slightly better than the Battle at the S.S. Anne(Yeah, that's my name for it). But Dogasu will help clear away with this nostalgia.

Ah, Pokemon Shipwreck. I remember it so fondly... I always like stuff about shipwrecks. Though I don't get why they made such a big deal of Gyarados' Dragon Rage. It's not even a strong attack. :P

Since Dragon Rage is attributed to Gyarados' destructive nature (heck, at the time of Gyarados' debut, it was it's signature attack, plus, it's dex entries hints that Dragon Rage was powerful enough to leave an entire cityscape as a burning wreck.), and Misty mentions sailor's stories about Gyarados' attack that devastated at least one ship, if not an entire fleet, I think it was dangerous enough to be a very big deal about.

Before I start, I have to stab the PC clock and my browser's incessant need to debug. Stupid 3:01.

    *Stabs both.*

    Okay, then. *Is happy.*

Indeed, as part of the anime conversion process. So, yeah, Dragon Rage appeared to be more powerful, though, in-game, it's not bad. Automatic 40 HP loss -- pretty good.

Speaking of Misty, she actually came out better than Kasumi did. Episode comparison's up, with dialogue edits, paint and other oddities.

Not as good as the last episode, but still good. Wow, Dogasu mentions stuff I didn't notice

"The thing I didn't like, however, was how horribly out-of-character everyone acted in this episode. Why is Kasumi so calm and cool-headed? Why is Takeshi acting so hot-tempered and eager to fight? Why is Nyasu afraid of water in this episode and only this episode? Why is Pikachu acting like such a little *******? The OOC-ness of this episode is through the roof, and when I watch this episode, I sometimes wonder if the writers even knew anything about the characters they were writing for."

You can hear Nyasu say "ya na kanji"!? Wow! Anyway doesn't anyone know what "ii kanji" means? I hear Team Rocket say it a lot in Japanese

    At level 20...level 100? LOL

It's suprising that the dub practically did a better job. That doesn't happen that much at all.

    Dub Rating: 9/10
    Japanese Rating: 8/10 for OOCness.

The OOCness was in both versions haha. Although I prefer the dub line
Misty: "Call your Pokémon back, too. What's more important? A Pokémon battle or your life?"
    Jessie: "She's right. Good point."
To the Japanese one where Misty just mentions throwing them into the water, yeah.

Yeah, but the dub was more intelligent with Misty.

But I would take the pokémon battle. Yup, go out in a blaze of glory.

It's their version of "Team Rocket's blasting off!" I believe the translation is "this feels bad!" Or something like that.

Hey, if it works, it works. Heh.

Oh, I knew when they blasted off they said something like "this feels bad!" but I didn't realise it was "ii kanji". I was watching a non-blast off scene, that's why XD

Now you know the rest of the backstory.

Anyway, Dogasu summed up my problems with the episodes. Though, setting-wise, it wasn't as awesome or as tight as the previous episode or the following one. Could be why I wasn't as impressed, as it didn't feel right.

And, yes, Pikachu is a jerk.

I bought the VHS tape with this episode since I missed it when it aired and I have to say good episode, except it's a complete plot ripoff of "The Poseidon Adventure." I wish James had kept Gyrados, it would have been nice for the wimp to have a BA poke. Oh well, we see it again when Ritchie goes to One Island in chroncles so the character didnt really die off.

I wouldn't call it a "ripoff," but more an homage. Heh. Which can be construed as the same thing. Hey, I didn't mind, as people should know more about Irwin Allen's successful movies. Try the Towering Inferno, next. Heh.

Yeah, I did regret he couldn't keep it, but that's the series for you. It's only recently that they're getting idiosyncratic with the Pokemon selections. Still, it's nice to dream him with the Gyarados.

I wonder if there is any fanfiction on that. And, no, I'm not going on ship. Heh. Silly shippers.
