[Developing] Pokémon OTG - Multiplayer web browser game

Hello everyone,

My name is Andre (the dad of Pokémon OTG), and I came here to get help, ideas, comments, feedback, and everything else that could help me finish and release Pokémon OTG. But what on earth is OTG?
Pokémon OTG is an online trainers game (very simply put 😉).

Back Story

A few months ago, I realized that my daughter was getting into the vibe of Pokémon, just like her dad in the old days. We're talking about 15 years ago when I was playing with my Game Boy Color, trying my best to finish it and "catch them all." In French, "Attrapez-les tous" – I'm French, by the way.
I really loved the idea of getting back into it, so I read, played with her again, and realized that I could do more than that! I could create a game that we could play together, wherever we are.
Well, by the time the idea came to fruition and I started developing, she lost a bit of her interest... but I don't give up on creating Pokémon OTG. In fact, the development has already started and is pretty much set to be released – hopefully – by October.

Story

There isn't really a single story to focus on because this game will never truly be finished. That's the beauty (and nightmare) of an online game.
In the game's first season, your character arrives in a world where Olas, has stolen some Pokéballs. By battling one of his goon, you will manage to get one Pokéball back – this will determine which Pokémon you get, and it will also be the starting point of your adventure as a trainer.
In the game, you have two possibilities: the mode where you gain XP, items, and Pokémon through missions, or fighting with other online players through PvP – that's the fun part.

I really need to get a wiki sorted because the crafting aspect is one of the most important parts of the game. I like to push people to use their brains. 😛​

What Makes OTG Unique

OTG is meant for people to have fun and enjoy the normal battle elements of any game, but also to make crafting and evolving Pokémon much more complex. I believe this complexity prevents people to be bored.

Collect a diverse range of Pokémon, each with unique abilities and characteristics.
Craft powerful items to enhance your Trainer's strength, capabilities, health, and more.
Evolve your Pokémon to unlock their full potential and dominate in battles.
Battle using up to four Pokémon at a time (yes, yes, 4...), strategizing to outsmart and overpower your opponents.

Dev Info

PokeOTG is made using a Laravel based engine. The engine is now completed and we are now focusing on the game logic and some of the graphic.

Currently, I am focused on Pokémon. Since the 05.07.2024 - All the Pokémon from 1st generation been added.

Hello everyone, today i added an edit on the game and some screenshot. I didn't have much time this week to add or work on the dev of the game. But this morning manage to get some more screenshot of the game. I need to know, I am now thinking to add a map to the game, what do you think ?

(ignore the Pokémon names, that will be NPC and location )

Also, will work on the fight mode and graphic, so hopefully can drop you some screenshot over the weekend, or Monday.

Update today:
I finish adding the fight logic of each Pokémon ( attack, defence, HP and speed ) and also create the XP and lvl system for the game.

The XP system work slightly differently than the games on console. I was worried of the size of the numbers needed. I believe XP can go up to 176 million in games ... way too much for a browser game.

Hello everyone,

Here's a small update for those not yet on our Discord server.

We have set up a server for you to discuss the game, get to know each other, help with trades, and create some fun events. When the app is released, this will be a great place to connect and engage with the community.

I have nearly finalised all the Pokémon and am now focusing on the NPCs and locations for the battles.
