[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Chaos Origins (Open World Like)

Dangerous, alien-like creatures emerged from a mysterious portal deep within Redstone Canyon located in the historic Tamterra Region,
infecting innocent Pokémon with a virus, turning them incredibly vile and hostile.
Many scientists and powerful trainers joined forces to combat the new found virus Pokémon and beasts.
But only one person dared to enter the portal trying to find the origin of the chaos.
It was your father.

15 years later, he still hasn't returned, but your mother continues to believe he will.
She founded an organization called the Canyon Operation
which focuses on researching the virus Pokémon and protecting the citizens of the region,
in hopes it will help him come back again someday.

Now that the Redstone Academy has trained you enough to face the virus beasts,
you are finally allowed to travel through the Tamterra region with your very own Pokémon, alongside your closest friends.

Explore a region more or less struggling to adapt to the uncontrollable dangers threatening it - and uncover the origin behind the chaos!

Chaos Origins offers a completely open world like gaming experience.

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Chaos Origins (Open World Like)

With 13 different biomes the Tamterra Region has something for everyone.
With the addition of HM Items, traveling through the region will be a breeze.
They are rarely required to progress and mostly serve as an obstacle for countless useful items.

There will be eight gyms and six Canyon Operation Bases (C.O.B.) to defeat before entering the league and Redstone Canyon.
You can decide for yourself in which order you want to challenge them,
since you are allowed to go everywhere since the beginning of the game.
Every place is worth exploring, because every place is story relevant.

Zones are divided into different colors defining their difficulty level,
so you can decide what kind of challenge you want to do next.
However important battles are always scaled to your level to offer the best battle experience.

I really thought a lot about how to do that. I try to give the player as much freedom in choice as possible while minimizing grinding as much as I can. Only play testing by our Beta testers will determine if that truly will work. Personally I had a great battle experience up to now but that don't really mean a thing.

I can contact you when the first beta is about to drop! The more people play testing the better

Looks promising and I like the premise. What's the AI situation? Is it going to be the beefed up AI made by DemICE or something else? For me, a hack is much more enjoyable if the difficulty comes from having to actually outplay an opponent (as much as is possible with a CPU) rather than "fake" difficulty, i.e., "here's a boss trainer and all her mons get stat boosts just because ".

I have not made changes to the AI yet. Difficulty is defined by level, so every route/zone has a different difficulty level for the trainer to decide if they are leveled high enough or looking for challenge. Since the first beta doesn't show a lot of the region there will mostly be a lot of low level zones to discover in preparation of whats to come next.

There are many low level zones surrounding the starting area because you can leave it in three different directions, however the farther away you go from the starting point the higher the level in the zones become.

It's important to say that story relevant battles like gym or rival battles will always be scaled up to your level. So even if you went to higher leveled areas first and then come back to lower leveled areas to fight a gym you're missing, the gym trainers and gym leader will still be up to your level.

A lot of testing will determine how good this will work in the game. For now I had some great experiences with the current version and will soon unleash it on my team to check how they are doing!

Hello everyone, during the last few weeks our team worked tirelessly on the project, so a possible release for the first beta could happen at the beginning of June.

There is still a lot happening behind the scenes, because we try to give you an experience as smooth as possible.

I can't wait to show you what we've been working on, so please be patient. It will be worth it
