I just heard about this recently (not sure how long ago it was announced, though ;3) and this announcement just got me so much more excited for the upcoming handheld console by Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS. Along with the other currently announced games for the said console, such as Animal Crossing 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 3DS and Starfox 64 3D, I will without a doubt be getting it because it sounds sooo epiiiiiic ;D

Anyways, Paper Mario 3DS looks like it will be yet another perfect paper-themed game. Hopefully it won't be a remake of the 64 version (since that seems to be a theme with this console), but I would be perfectly fine with whatever they come up with. It looks to me like a Chain Chomp is an ally/partner in Mario's quest :o, and that screenshot displaying the huge cards (as if the player had been shrunk) especially interests me. Like in every Mario game, the world is overrun by Goombas :|

So, what are your thoughts so far about this game? Are you excited? Will you get it? Is it a part of the reason why you're getting/not getting a 3DS?
For me: yes, yes, and yes! (:

It looks fantastic. It'll definitely give me another reason to get the 3DS.

    That looks so awesome!
I'm a big fan of Mario games and this just got me excited.
I also like the idea of a nice Chain Chomp, and I love how real this game looks.
    like you,I want this game!

I'm looking forward to this. It looks like they're going back to the old turn-based battle system that I loved about the original game.

So long as they go back to the original roots of the series instead of making it like Super Paper Mario, I'll be content with whatever they do. I hated SPM, though, and hopefully this will be the Paper Mario series' rightful sequel.

Yeah, same. Super Paper Mario was kind of a bust for me. I couldn't get very far before I got tired of it. I absolutely loved the first 2 though so if this one is similar to those then this game will no doubt be amazing and yet another reason I really need to pick up a 3DS.

I wonder if they will do some pop up book style effects for Paper Mario 3DS. XD

But yes sweeties, Paper Mario on the go, I just can't wait. =D

On a random note, I liked Super Paper Mario...

I thought it looked pretty good. But that's like me buying a PSP just to play BBS. I don't really have that kind of money to buy ANOTHER game system just to play a certain game :x

I'll give it some thought though.

I LOVED TTYD for the GC, so I'll prob. like this. :D

I looooved the original Paper Mario on the N64. The GCN sequel was...okay. Certainly a forgettable title. And then Super Paper Mario was horrible.

So, the series doesn't exactly have the best track record, but I'm optimistic. Nintendo seems to be in a retro and nostalgia mood at the moment, so, even if a new title, I think they'll try to stay true to the series' roots.

I liked Super Paper Mario. Didn't really think it was OMG AMAZING or anything, but it was fun and had a lot of humor and charm. I never played the first Paper Mario, and couldn't really get into TTYD (though I'm planning on going back and trying to play through it) because I found it boring, repetitive, and humorless. I'm more of a fan of the Mario & Luigi games than the Paper Mario games, but this does look really good - hopefully it'll impress.

I can't wait for this game. It'll be one of the best, if not the best, game announced for the 3DS.

The only problem I can see is that the Chain Chomp doesn't seem to follow you outside of battle, so you won't be able to use partner's abilities out of battles. But, it will still be good. So glad it's not like SPM.

Well I better start looking for a job so I can afford the console and the game when it comes out.

I'm definitely going to get this game, as well as a 3DS (lucky for me there are several games that I want on the console).

Like many, I'm so glad they've gone back to the RPG-type roots of the PM series. SPM had an interesting plot, and the dialogue etc. was great, but the rest of it was blah (in my opinion).

This looks really promising. I am really glad that Pixls and the square-abstract NPCs are gone. Looks like Nintendo/IS noticed the fandom's reaction. A Chomp as a partner is a new one; those scenaries look great too!

Anybody nows if Intelligent Systems is working in this one?

I was already sold on the 3DS when Kid Icarus was announced..MGS, Zelda, Resi, Paper Mario..They're just spectacular bonuses.

I was going to get the system either way, but now with this game, I'm so excited for the 3DS!
So, Yes I'm excited, Yes I will buy it, and Yes, it's a reason for me to buy the system!

The first two Paper Mario games were amazing and I nearly fainted when I heard about the 3DS version. A return to form is certainly what that series needed.

YEEEEEEES!!!! NO MORE PLATFORMER RPG HYBRID. BACK TO THE OLD STYLE. *Suffocated, dies*

I'm very excited for this game. I played all of the Paper Mario games, I just hope it's not a remake of the first. But judging from the screens, i don't think so. I never seen that card room before or a chain chomp as one of my partners. ;D

The Chain Chomp, or any partner, is probably not following Mario in the screenshots because they were trying to hide that person so they wouldn't give away much. What else interests me is how you get the Chain Chomp as a partner. Is there a city full of Chain Chomp residents that you have to do a quest for? How will this partner help on your adventure?

And here are some different screenshots that I found:

    [PokeCommunity.com] "Paper Mario 3DS"

Mario and his partner in battle with an unnamed, crowned Monty Mole.

    [PokeCommunity.com] "Paper Mario 3DS"

Mario about to cross a bridge. The bridge outline suggests that it may be moveable.

I'm also gonna guess that the player revisits places from the old games, like the forest next to Goomba Village in Paper Mario. Finally, I'm curious as to what the second screen (the Touch Screen?) will do for us...
