There are changes in the game, with one of the more notable ones being Opelucid City's differences. These differences are more than simply just a futuristic change, although you may see it as just that.

So discuss, the differences between Opelucid City in both games.

    Black
    Spoiler:

    White
    Spoiler:

    I was really disappointed with Opelucid City in White, I remember from the screenshots, I expected it to be more like Black's, although at that point I knew that the two were different. XD; I just preferred Black's design ;__;

I do like that Opelucid in White has reference to the past and in Black has reference to the future, which is a perfect balance imo. And although one follows the past morals etc, and the other follows the future's well, ways (lol this makes no sense), Black's Opelucid City can't really exist without White's, because in life it's true that all present cities etc irl now are influenced by the past and what the past has put in place and it's nice that Pokemon could represent that between two games.

    Wow I can't type :(

    How do you pronounce it?

Anyway, I didn't know of the changes until the guy in one of the building spoke of a different one in another world. I thought helping him would take us there but that isn't so. I like the fact that it varies with versions, more version exclusives is good, makes of interested in getting the other game.

"Oh-pe-loo-sid" Anyway, I like Black's version of Opelucid because of how the technology was implemented. I also didn't like the music; I felt like my ears were being killed while I was listening to it.

Idk where you guys are getting the idea that Black's is better. I mean, I haven't played through White but from the looks of it I love Opelucid City there like 13824701329 times more. It's so... not modern and sleek, and I really like the ground level changing and walking up and down stairs and stuff. I think it looks a lot better than Black's version.

Bah, the Opelucid City differences in B/W are starting to piss me off
because B/W are supposed to be in the same timeline.

"I also didn't like the music; I felt like my ears were being killed while I was listening to it.
I agree, I hate Opelucid City's music too!
Because of this, I always rode my bike to change the background music.

at the risk of being re directed to the quick questions forum, is what that guy meant by needing to borrow a pokemon with charge from the other realm?

I haven't noticed much difference apart from the appearance... I love the city in White though, it's cute and peaceful. :)

I have never seen the design in White, but I don't like the futuristic view . I would prefer something like ecruteak in silver lol.

I play white, and I love the city. When I'm not doing the battle subway or breeding I hang out there. I also really like the music everywhere in the game, so I actually prefer running than using my bike because the music changes. XD

Oh wow, I didn't know they were different...

I like Black's design better, but I also like White's.

I have White, so I got the past reference.

It might be bias since I have White, but I feel that White has a better aesthetic design than Black's. White actually has somewhat of an old feel to it, while Black's just blue and metallic "FUTURE" look. The greens in White complement the old, untouched feel quite well, while even the slightest amount of green in Black's Opelucid City downtone the whole "future" thing they were trying to go for. White also has more untouched terrain levels, while Black feels a little too flat for the future. My thoughts on the aesthetic anyway.

Also, White's music is enjoyable and more appropriate for the mood, but Black's music is one of the catchiest tracks in the whole game because I have god awful taste in music and enjoy the over-abused electronic synth sound.

    tl;dr:
White > Black in design and aesthetic
    White <<<<<<<< Black in music

Now that I see the overview of both cities right next to each other...they looked even similar than I had thought.

Now these are the only differances that I see:
    • Ground elevation
    • Color - In Black it's all blue
    • Texture - Mainly on the streets.
    • The fountain
    • In Black there's an extra vending machine, those six extra buildings with the dome roofs, and the ground surrounding the gym is like...dead.
    • Futuristic doors in Black
    Not really all that different.

I prefer the White version, even if I have Black: more rustic, more peaceful, and the town music is lovely.
    Anyways.
A question for all of you: how could be Opelucid City like, in an eventual "Pokèmon Grey"?

Unfortunately, although Black had the potential of being cooler with the 'futuristic' theme, they made the mistake of making everything puke-ugly blue.

Champaign (IL)?(For those of you who don't know which very small city that is, which is most likely 99% of you, google it.) In other words, not very technological like Tokyo, but still not a farm out in the countryside.

I never saw pictures of the place until now. I gotta say, all that blue looks bad. Maybe it looks better in game, but having only played White I can only say that I thought it was an interesting place. Not spectacular, but it seemed to fit in with the fact that it's where the Dragon-type gym was located.

Love the design for White since it makes me feel like somewhat a part of nature. Black is just too much for me. Also there is a difference in music player as well. Next to the pokemon center will be a girl who play flute in white and a guy who play electric guitar in black. I think the girl playing flute will be much better than the guy in black. ^_^

I prefer White's design, mainly because the city seems more serene in its rustic and vintage form. It looks too uninviting and drab in Black's version.

Probably something reminiscent of a thriving suburban neighborhood, but not enough to be a full-fledged city. Kind of like Driftveil or Icirrus.
