New GBA SP glitch?!

I just bought the a new GBA SP with the "new brighter screen" and popped in the LeafGreen. It looked great except whenever I enter the 1st floor of the pokemon center, I get a 1 second delayed ghost image of the room before it becomes solid. I thought this was a fluke until I tried my other pokemon carts. The result were no problems with the older games (Sapphire & Ruby), but I got the SAME glitch in FireRed and Emerald. I tried all carts in my older front-lit SP and had no problems. Next, I called Nintendo, and they said they have no reported glitch of this nature. So is the problem in my back-lit SP or is it in the newer games? Anyone had similar experiences?

Hey, I've noticed that even on a regular GBA, there is a slight pause when you enter Pokemon Centre. Then I tilted my GBA screen, so there was some light reflecting off it, and I could see the shadows of the people in Pokemon Centre, then a second later, the shadows turned to regular sprites.

I think the shadows are bascially just the sprites "loading", and it happens on a regular GBA as well, but since the back isn't lit, it's less noticible.

Sounds interesting. I might get my mate to let me borrow his GBASP (I only have a GB Color) and see if this works on Crystal

LOL. So many people freak out on something so simple...

Despite the warnings of keeping the Wireless Adapter in the GBA (may cause damage to the unit... yeah right) I kept the Wireless Adapter in there since I was too lazy to put it somewhere else.

When I decided to take off the Wireless Adapter one day, I noticed that there was a slight pause whenever I entered a Pokémon Center. Since nothing ever happened, I didn't worry about it. When I put the Wireless Adapter back in, the Pokémon Center loaded like normal.

My guess is that the games that can use the Wireless Adapter (FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald) needs time to figure out if you have the device hooked up whenever you enter a Pokémon Center since these are one of few places where the Wireless Adapter is needed. (others included FireRed and LeafGreen's mini-game area and Emerald's Battle Tents and Battle Tower)

The only reason you can actually see the 'ghost image' is because you have a bright screen. I could easily see it happening whenever I use the Nintendo DS. The 'ghost image' does happen in those three games on anything that plays Game Boy games. It's just a lot harder to notice if you don't have a bright screen, such as the Game Boy Advanced (not SP).

Woot, I'm so happy my theory was correct :) Thanks for confirming dqle.

xD; I always thought it was the character turning the lights on. *smacked* I know it's a stupid thought, but it sort of makes sense and sort of doesn't. There is other people in the Pokemon Center..

I tried the games with the Wireless Adapter attached to the GBA SP and it worked like a charm on all the pause problems. Give dqle a cookie!

Hmmm... if that's the case, then all of the buildings would have their lights off until you happen to walk in, hoping to suprise you. But if it happens in all of the buildings, I'm pretty sure you'd be used to it! Then again, who's to turn off/on the lights outside a building???

LOL. Very thoughtful! *pats Rakurai Mitsukai on the back*

I'm no expert, but it might be a region clash... but yet again, GBA carts have no region specification... wierd.
...uh actually it does have region specification. Its more like continent specification coz if u look at the game pak closely (or the box) u'll notice that its written on it. And my GBASP screen turns kinda like stripy whenever I enter a pokemon contest. Weird huh?

Hey! I thought that too! But it only happened on my LG so I thought it was a new weird improvement. I still do and will continue to pretend.
    Here's a pic. It's this, right?

Yay for back pats! *smacked* That aside, I can't see that picture.. it's all black. D: Or my sight is horrible.

Kudos to dgle~ I think you got it.

I always just assumed it was loading time. No glitch ;D

Um, try adjusting your monitor's brightness, Rakurai Mitsukai. For some reason, I always max mine out. It also may help to use a CRT monitor rather than a LCD monitor. (CRT = old-school fat monitors, LCD = hip new thin monitors)

I thought that it was loading time too, but then I noticed that only the Pokémon Center's music started playing while loading, so I thought something was up.

    ...

    And it's dqle, not dgle!
