Have you ever used cheating devices in your games? How do you feel about this in general? Do you released hacked Pokemon you get from events such as Wonder Trade immediately?

    Yeah, back in 4th gen.

    I really wanted an Arceus.

So I used cheats and got like half a dozen of them. Even got the Azure Flute so I could go to the Hall of Origin and catch the one there too.

Yeah 4th gen was just....so much fun to use cheat codes in haha. I bought an Action Replay just to get Arceus and show my brother.

It's a shame they never released that Azure Flute!

I toyed around with an Action Replay in Sapphire when I was a kid. I didn't use it for "cheating" though, strictly speaking. I just had fun playing around with the different codes and seeing what was possible--I never kept any of the Pokémon I generated with it. That was actually how I first learned about the National Pokédex (as opposed to the regional one), which I normally shouldn't have had access to in Sapphire.

The one and only time I cheated (well, actually my cousins did it for me) was when they hacked a shiny Charmander named Lucian into my game for me. He had Blast Burn, Metronome and some other absurdly powerful moves lmao. It was really fun to use. :D I wouldn't do it again though, I think the novelty has worn off for me.

I cheated a lot in Diamond. My main cheats were walk through walls, infinite masterballs and rare candies - which were the only codes I needed to have fun. I've gotten past cheating though, the novelty of it has already worn off.

I have never hacked or used cheat devices in a Pokémon game. However I am sure I have received some Shinys in random trades that are hacked.

I am a collector over a battler in Pokémon but on the rare occasions I do battle other people I use only Pokemon I have caught or bred myself.

I have used cheats sporadically for my playthroughs of Gen III to V. It's quite easy if you are using an emulator and PC, which is the only way I played Pokémon for a long time before I bought a 3DS.

From early on I had no interest in hacking for legendaries or uber Pokémon. It was usually just to set up an interesting monotype team (or just a collection of favourites) in one save file and then playing on legitimately. It gave the games some more replay value and furnished me with the chance to familiarise myself with some otherwise impossible-to-get monsters. Happily, I still do this today with a combination of PokéBank and all 4 Gen VI game cartridges.

It irks me quite a lot that Wonder Trade is seeing an increase of hacked Pokémon. A few weeks ago I received a shiny Moltres and that first moment of excitement was extinguished quickly because of it. Perhaps Wonder Trade could use some parameters of consent for those of us who are not interested in hacked monsters.

Yeah that's the thing for me. It was fun but only for a very short amount of time. Once I realized that hacked Pokemon were not only useless but quite frowned upon, the very novelty of it completely went away for me. I also began to see that it ruined my gaming experience because my Pokedex would be filled up unfairly and I would have to start over :(

I've never used a hack for my games because I'm to lazy to go out and buy one. I'll check the date on Pokemon I get every so often and I'll get one with a date that's way into the future and I can't help but to laugh and set it free.

I haven't used a cheating device on my game, and for the most part, I try to avoid glitches and the like (though I did exploit RNG in gen IV, and a bit in gen V). I felt really lousy about how "easy" I made the game after using the Missingno glitch to get tons of master balls in Red, eventually restarting my game because of it, so since then, I've avoided cheating devices. I'm sure I own plenty of hacked Pokemon (anyone who trades probably does), and they don't bother me so long as they're legal and I can't tell that they're hacked.

I don't really care if other people cheat, especially with enhancements in breeding, but I think if something is hacked, people should be up front about it if trading it. Also, I tend to think that hacked Pokemon should be given for free, rather than demanding something in return.

If a Pokemon is blatantly hacked, I'll release it or trade it away. Otherwise, I'll assume it's legit until I find out that that isn't the case.
