2nd Gen Moving Sprites!

Pokemon Crystal added something that I found to be incredibly unique - moving sprites! Honestly, I think that the 3D moving sprites we have in the current games like Sun and Moon are really cool, but I have always loved and preferred the sprites of Pokemon Crystal. I love them!

Were you excited about these moving sprites back when Crystal first introduced them? Feel free to post some of your favorites from the game!

When I first saw the animated sprites in Crystal, I found them cool. I do not really have a favorite sprite because I liked all of them.

I thought they were pretty amazing. I guess the thought of the pokemon actually having some type of movement really surprised me. i was happy to see it continue to be used and evolve at the same time with future generations.

They looked absolutely brilliant, the animations held so much character that really added to the stylised look of the sprites

I found the Animated spirits in Crystal to be the best thing ever in Pokemon way back then haha.

It was the coolest thing to happen yet in pok?mon, haha. And in many cases the Crystal sprites are still the most beloved version of pok?mon sprites/models. They are the right mix between vivid and still frame cartoon, somehow. I remember that back then, I wondered how some pok?mon could ever be rendered in 3D haha but I wasn't even properly aware of that they had already done that in Pok?mon Stadium XD

It was indeed really cool seeing them in Crystal! I think I enjoyed watching the eeveelution sprites, as well as the legendary dog's sprites animated. So awesome. ^^ I'm glad it was something that they continued throughout Pokemon Emerald. It was really something special!

It was a nice little touch at the time, and animated sprites definitely give more depth than static sprites. Miltank's sprite is pretty adorable despite how much of a pain it can be with Whitney.

This one's my favourite. I always thought she looks like she's playing air guitar.
