    Inspired by Zeostar's thread here.

What are some pieces of media you think have the most wholesome group of fans? Obviously every fandom has a darker side but let's highlight some of those where the majority is kind and compassionate. ('∀'●)♡

I'm going to say Monster Hunter. You'd think it'd be about kicking weaker hunters but 90% of the time I see hubs filled with people willing to help lower ranked players pass tougher quests. The sense of community there is actually very welcoming and there's always someone willing to join you in a hunt. :)

    Probably animal crossing.

I spent lots of time in new leaf using the online "club tortimer" island, and almost everybody was so kind. It made me want to keep returning.

It's gotta be the Steven Universe fanbase, right? Everybody just wants to make their own gemsonas and have fun ^^

Pokémon is pretty nice too tbh, so many nice people and toooons of different ways to enjoy the franchise, although there's a lot of weirdos being drawn to it too. I guess every fanbase has its rotten eggs, and the larger the crowd, the more stinkies.

I feel like most like single player, life-simulator games tend to have more wholesome fanbases. Games like Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and Rune Factory. I was active on Stardew's Reddit before and I literally didn't meet a single a** who tried to put down someone else for something they did on their farm. At worst you get the "who is the best husbando/waifu" debates but, those usually are pretty tame

Animal Crossing is also a relatively wholesome fanbase. I think I witnessed one person ridiculing someone's island because all 10 of their villagers were the unpopular ones on Reddit (I wouldn't be surprised if non-AC fans just assume the game has like ~30 villagers since those villagers always get talked about). Outside of the witch hunt Verlisify started because people were cheating in a single-player, relatively private game and the very few people who try to scam you for those with online... it's still a chill fanbase where people just talk about the villagers and island designs.

I gave it a good thought, and I don't think I was able find any fanbase I'm a part of to be "wholesome". They're all neutral at best. Granted, you will find a wholesome group if you look for it. Putting myself into shoes of an outside onlooker, you can see some very nasty stuff from each of them. Some worse than other, but it doesn't change the fact that I can't describe any of them as straight-up wholesome. It doesn't really matter to me though: it won't change what i like and I'll stick to the part of the fanbase that I enjoy. Every batch of apples will have some rotten ones.

Of the ones already mentioned, I'd say Monster Hunter and AC (and other life sim) fanbases seem wholesome.
Steven Universe is an interesting mention, I got the impression it has its fair share of questionable fans. Again, speaking purely from an outside perspective.

i'm actually not sure... hm. steven universe comes closest to having the least toxic people i've personally seen, but unfortunately that isn't perfect either. normally i would've said animal crossing but since acnh came out, you have no idea the mean comments i've seen some people make towards fictional animal villagers, and the things some people have done to other players. :( it's really awful.
