2nd Gen Mom saves your money.

In generation II and their remakes, your mother will ask you if you want to save your money with her. If you say yes, your mother will get some of your money from battles. She will also buy you some items. In the original games, she will only buy certain items, and only once. However, in the remakes, she will constantly buy items with your money.

Did you save money with your mother? I did, at first, but then I grew to hate the feature. Why is my fictional game mother spending the money I worked so hard to save? No thanks.

I don't enjoy the feature. I'd rather be able to just buy the stuff I need from shops, instead of hoping to get lucky in order to get the evolution stone I need.

She would've been great as a sort of bank for us and nothing else. The fact that she just randomly buys items you probably don't need though is what turned me off from it. Like OP said, it's our money; she should at least ask permission.

I've had mixed feelings about this over the years. The first time I played HgSs I was like "oh, this is interesting" but turned it off after a while. The next few times I didn't enable it, but when I realised you actually get some decent items like a Choice Scarf and Moon Stone I used it on my last play through a few years back, and have enabled it in the current one. I like that its not a feature replicated in other regions, otherwise I would tire of it.
I turn it off once I've gotten all the berries, as by that point I'm usually at the point of considering EV-training my Pokémon and need the money for vitamins.

Nah, i always say "no" when my "mom" (What? I play as Red, Ethan and May (LOL you thought i was gonna wrote Brendan?) i don't need that many moms) asks me to save my money (pikasprey also seems to follows the suit)

Also for some reason the fan translated Pokemon Silver rom calls "sent some to mom" as "well done"

in the remakes you could get some sweet items through her spending your money, once I learned about that I always just said yes at the beginning. it doesnt get in the way at all
