In Pokémon Emerald (Not R/S!) every time the player leaves and enters Route 111, there's a chance of a cracked-looking tower appearing. Once you enter, you'll find that the inside looks similar to a cave. Go up a level- you'll see something similar to Sky Pillar's holes. To make sure you don't fall down, go as quick as you can on a Mach Bike, until you reach a safe place. You have to do this for one more level. Once you reach the top, you'll see something waiting for you.

The 2 fossils are also known as the Claw Fossil and the Root Fossil. The Claw Fossil; once extracted a Pokémon known as Anorith will be created. For the Root Fossil, a Pokémon called Lileep will be created- both fossil Pokémon. Once you pick up a fossil, the tower will start to crumble and collapse. You'll end up back outside where the tower once stood, on Route 111.

About the other fossil; you'll have to go to the Desert Underpass to get it.

So, did you ever explore the Mirage Tower? Or have you not even seen it before? Which fossil did you take- why? Post below!

I've never had difficulty finding this tower at all but it was a pain to go swap bikes if I had acro on me at the time (despite Mauville only being a little bit south). I fell a few times because I'm a derp but otherwise there were no problems and I left happily with my fossil (usually root). Unfortunately I didn't really use Lileep nor Cradily due to their lack of steed.

I'm not sure if I've had much trouble finding it; unlike Mirage Island (that's the name, isn't it?), this location seems to appear more often.

I've definitely liked exploring the place, consider how new it was to me back then in comparison to other locations and whatnot; have spent some decent amount of time looking around to see if there's anything interesting. Going through it wasn't an issue, either.

As far as fossil goes, I wound up selecting the one housing Anaroth (spelling?). Lileep is an interesting-looking Pokémon, and so is Cradily, but personally, I'm a much bigger fan of Armaldo. In terms of design and whatnot, I feel it looks great, and I find it to be more helpful battling-wise, too!

I can remember finding the tower because I can remember running across the fossils. I had thought it was actually there all the time because I saw it quite often.

This was one of those interesting things, sometimes it would be right in the middle of the desert and others it wouldn't be. It was a bit of a burden to need the Mach Bike and Rock Smash to scale it, though, but at least it was nice that they give you one of the fossils and you can still get the other in the post-game.
