title syas it all, I need help catching mewtwo, I'm thinking of putting articuno and moltres in my team, but zapdos alone can defeat Mewtwo with simply 2 thunders, any ideas..?

    ps- this is Mewtwo's stats-
    Mewtwolvl70
    -Swift
    -Recover
    -Psychic
    -Safeguard

    List your pokemon team/levels/move set..

If your Zapdos has thunderbolt, use a thunder and thunderbolt. That should bring it to red or close to at least.

Use a sleeper or poisoner :S ..Try to get a status problem on Mewtwo

    here is my team-

    Pigeotlvl49

and I forgot the rest of my team.. .-.

Arggh that's a bit hard. You bet the Pokemon league with that team =O? Anyways, use Zapdos' Thunder and then switch it out for snorlax. He has a high hp count, meaning he can last longer. Then try to do some small damages to weaken Mewtwo.

Try to use Sleep Powder / Thunder Wave on it, and then just slowly weaken it. I'd bring like 30 Ultra Balls to be safe, but I have never needed more than 5 for anything, maybe I am just lucky.

Try to Paralyz him, that should work....or maybe use Spore on him, a Parasect on the Unknown Dungeon has one...

Raise a Tyranitar and teach it Taunt. Whenever you use Taunt, Mewtwo won't be able to use Recover or Safeguard leaving him with two attacks left. Psychic, Mewtwo's strongest attack won't even do any damage to Tyranitar because Tyranitar is part Dark. Swift is a joke on Tyranitar because he is resistance to Normal attacks and Mewtwo's attack isn't as deadly as his Special Attack. Also, reteach Thunder Wave on Zapdos so you can have something to Paralyze it. You need to go to the Move Relearner in Island 2 to do that. Plus, you need either 2 Tinymushrooms or 1 big one. You can find mushrooms on wild Paras at Mt. Moon B1. They have a 100% encounter on that floor.

When you finally start the battle with Mewtwo, use Zapdos to Thunder Wave it. Zapdos is the fastest in your team so it needs to be the first Pokemon that you should use. When you successfully paralyzed it, switch to Tyranitar and a Sandstorm appears. Use Taunt on your next move and start throwing Ultra Balls after that. The Sandstorm will slowly damage it, making it a little easier to catch it.

Tyranitar takes awhile to get because he needs a lot of experience to level up but it is really worth it when it finally evolves into that form. I caught Mewtwo on my first try with a Level 55 Tyranitar.

Try to paralyze Mewtwo with Thunder Wave(if your Zapdos have that attack). Or maybe you can catch a Parasect in the Unknown Dungeon, then use Spore at Mewtwo. After that, you can start throwing Ultra Balls to catch it.

Hey! I managed to catch a Latios with an Ultra Ball (and a little help from Wobbuffet) just so I could save the Master Ball for Rayquaza.

Besides, I used my Master Ball to catch Mewtwo in the original R/B/Y and still catch Mewtwo the same way. But you don't HAVE to do it my way, you can catch him however you want. It's just a suggestion.

(Also I have Pokemon Coloseum, so if I want the Legendary Dogs, I'll just go there.)

paralyze it first with zapdos's then attack it till its health goes to the red bar then throw a ball
