    Pokemon Meissa Moon
(I'm sure I'll have an icon eventually)

    Hack Of: Pokemon Moon
    Beta Release: 2nd June 2024
    Pokecommunity Release: 30th June 2024
Current Version: v1.3.2 (Balancing and bug fixes)

Gen 7 hacks are very few and far between, and the ones that do exist focus on Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon rather than its predecessors. Rightfully so, in fact, as Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have significantly more features, boss battles and an actual post-game. However, there are a few things that I could only have done in Sun and Moon that would have been impossible in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and you'll see why later.

    Summary
Nothing out of the ordinary here. Pokemon all across the board have all been rebalanced by means of buffed stats, types, abilities, etc. Consequently, all enemies have also been massively buffed. They don't have rosters packed with legendaries but the late game is really challenging, especially the Ultra Space Lusamine battle. It can be analogized to Photonic Sun or Fire Red Omega, but in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

    Notable changes:
    - Faster Alola: Alola's infamous for how slow its roster is, with very few non-Ultra Beasts cracking the 100 benchmark. Several Alolan Pokemon have had their speed buffed to keep up, including Decidueye, Vikavolt, Oricorio and Tsareena.
    - Golisopod has retained Emergency Exit in exchange for a massive stat buff. And if you're patient enough, you can get a Run Away Golisopod in Poni Island via Island Scan!
    - Poison/Fairy Shiinotic; Rock/Dark Lycanroc-Midnight; Ground/Flying Dodrio and more!
    - Wild Pokemon are set to very low levels, as a result of the bizarre placement of the Move Reminder right at the Pokemon League. With this solution, you'll no longer have to worry about losing out on earlier moves, such as Leech Seed on a Ferroseed. In addition, Rare Candies are buyable to solve the need to grind your newly caught team members until they reach your team's level.
    - Sparkling Aria now heals like Giga Drain, making the move not irrelevant in comparison to Surf

    Why Sun and Moon?
You might ask the question: Why make a hack on Pokemon Sun and Moon, and not Ultra Sun and Moon? Several reasons for that:
    - Ultra Space Lusamine is a much better climactic boss than Ultra Necrozma. As cool as Ultra Necrozma is, its boss battle itself is poorly designed, requiring cheesing with Zoroark, FEAR, Sash Mirror Coat etc., lest you get outsped and swept by it, making the actual fight unsatisfying. Lusamine, on the other hand, has totem boosts on each of her team members, and given her traditional single battle style, the fight remains climactic while not as polarizing.
    - Totem Pokemon have been massively reworked. This will be explained shortly but because you can actually get the totem Pokemon in USUM, the rework would have been impossible.
    - Script editing for gen 7 is still practically impossible, so in USUM this would essentially be an alternate version of Photonic Sun.

    Totems
A lot of what has been said about Ultra Necrozma can also be applied to totems, just to a less extreme degree. They're still fun battles, but later totems can easily be cheesed using Toxic or stat drops or the like.
Totems in this game are balanced to feel more akin to traditional RPG bosses: Massive bulk in exchange for always moving last with 1 base speed. Most will have abilities like Magic Bounce that negate status conditions, requiring the player to use more involved strategies that don't involve as cheap of tactics. As an example, Totem Vikavolt has a stat spread of 217/100/110/125/95/1. It's highly bulky, and its allies can buff its Special Attack significantly with Electric Terrain, but its low Speed gives the player many opportunities to damage it.

    Trainers
    - From Olivia's Kahuna fight onward, most major trainers will have full teams of 6, with few exceptions like Molayne and Faba.
    - EVs will gradually increase on NPCs over the course of the game, with the first fully EV trained Pokemon being Olivia's ace. Manually EV training can be tedious, so all EV feathers and EV reducing berries are buyable, and are edited to respectively increase and decrease EVs by 126, half of the maximum 252.
    - Since the Move Reminder is unavailable for the entire game, movesets are constrained for nuzlockers and other challenge runners. As a result, all major fights in the game have been made single battles. However, given the popularity of double battles, all optional route bosses in Alola have been made double battles! This includes the Lana and Mallow fights unlocked after beating Olivia! In addition, every single post game boss fight will also be in doubles format, once v2.0.0 releases.

    Catch 'em all?
As of now, not every Pokemon from Gen 1 to 7 is available. Currently, a total of 600 Pokemon are available, but when the post-game patch is released, the remaining 202 will be added as SOS encounters (adrenaline orbs are buyable everywhere). Catch 'em all hacks have a habit of overloading the early game with encounters, and it's cumbersome to buff terrible and repetitive mons like early rodents or Bug-types. The remaining 202 will be added as SOS encounters soon!

    Spoiler:

    Save Files!
    - Skip past the horde of early game cutscenes all the way to Hau Oli City with save files provided in the download link! These come with preset names (obviously, I'm not making quintillion save files lol), but those can be easily fixed with a quick trip to PkHaX. Instructions for download

    Bugs and Glitches
    - Some Pokemon can't learn TMs that they normally can learn because TM Compatibility is a pain to go through. If you find any occurence of this please let me know in the discord server (links below)
    - There may be a few inconsistencies with the docs and/or calc, again, please let me know in the discord server

    Download and Documentation
Download and Documentation Link to the Game can be found here, coming with Download instructions! Furthur tools can be found in the MM discord server

Hope you all enjoy a romhack of my favorite Pokemon game!

November update: Game now works with modded 3DS! The instructions are now placed in the installation guide

A very solid romhack. Enjoyed it a lot when I played it especially since I was burned out of playing pokemon over a year ago. brought much needed joy and reminded me of why i liked playing pokemon to begin with.

I love when people make 3d romhacks that are more than just "make the game impossibly difficult" and/or "make it a randomizer". I hope at some point it becomes compatible with actual 3ds hardware since this is looking like a really good romhack.

I have good news for you; someone in the discord managed to figure out a way to run the game on 3DS hardware, I'm not exactly sure how but I'll send an image of the things they did for that to work

Unfortunately I have very little experience with 3DS hardware so you'll have to try it yourself for this one.

One of the best games I've played as a nuzlocke as of recent times, glad to see such a fun and creative hack in the largely untouched field of Gen 7!
