This week's Mega for one of Hoenn's 2 native pseudo-legendary Pokemon!

    Mega Salamence
    [PokeCommunity.com] Mega Salamence

The energy from Salamence's Mega Evolution is focused on its wings. Its two wings fuse together, becoming a single huge wing in a crescent shape. When flying at high speeds, this wing becomes a great blade, slicing through anything loitering in Mega Salamence's way.

When it Mega Evolves, its Defense stat soars. With its already high stats climbing even higher, this becomes an even more promising Pokémon than before. Its Aerilate Ability also makes Normal-type moves into Flying-type moves, increasing the ways that Mega Salamence can battle.
As usual, we've got some discussion questions, as well as an extra question this time!

Thoughts on Mega Salamence? Do you like it more or less than its non-mega forme? How do you feel about its design? Before it was announced, had you expected there would be a Mega Salamence in ORAS? If so, is it anything like what you expected? Have you used it on your in-game team at all?
Do you have any other thoughts to share?

    Extra question:
Do you expect that every pseudo-legendary Pokémon will get a Mega in the future at some point?

I love mega salamences design, its sharp and looks like a space jet. It follows the ideology that Salamence ever since it was a Bagon wanted to soar!! Now it can. It also doesnt help that Salamence is my favourite pseudo. I actually perfer its mega over its non-mega form. I love its stats and design through and through. I do have on on my team both in game, competitive and in hackmons.

I do think most pseudo will have a mega before the end of gen 7 (imo)

I remember when people ran Scarf Greninja to beat this thing lol (before they both were banned anyway)

I wouldn't be surprised if they all did. I'm not sure if I want that to happen though, but I do also kinda want a Mega Hydreigon.

Mega Salamence has a really cool looking design, but I think it's also a perfect example of how broken Mega Evolution makes an already unbalanced game. If played right it's pretty much unstoppable. :(

Yeah, a M-Salamence is able to knock out even Sylveon, Clefable, Gardevoir. According to a friend, his Sylveon suffered a lot from M-Salamence.

My thoughts for M-Salamence: Croissant, yeah the edible kind.

It's understandable if some pseudo-legendary are given Mega Evolution forms (looking at Goodra and Hydreigon). But there shouldn't be duplicates of M-Salamence in the future, otherwise they are just gonna break the balance.

Its design is rather silly yes, but the Pokemon Company did a very good explanation on why it's that way. It's also one of the best Megas for battling, since Aerilated attacks hit very hard.

Waaaay strong, aha. Seriously, Aerilate is a really great ability for it. The design is kinda weird; I'm pretty sure it showed that it does have two front legs, but I guess it's not it's style? Hm.

Yep, it's simply hiding them. Which is still weird..

And on an unrelated note, seeing your username in this thread made me giggle, yeah because of Salamence's typing. XD

It looks like its wings turned into a glider. Haven't faced off against one in battle, but it certainly looks really tough.

    M. Salamence is quite tough and I take advantage of its ability big-time. It really helps me out in Doubles. Despite the toughness by looks and stats... one Ice Beam can still spell KO for Salamence, whether in Mega or not.

That times four Ice weakness is a fair exchange for a killing machine like M-Salamence. Greninja and Weavile are among those few fast non-legendary/non-Mega Pokemon that can OHKO M-Salamence. It's a different business if it received a Speed boost beforehand, Ice Shard might be your only hope...

I love Mega Salamence. It is hands down the best physical sweeper in Ubers and can run offensive DD, bulky DD, and defensive Defog sets with aplomb. Some even argue that it is still broken in the Ubers environment, which is a testament to how good it is!

I like both formes of Salamence; they're neat in their own way, and both look imposing. I figured it would get a Mega Evolution since it's a Hoenn pseudo, but I had no idea as to what it would look like (I'm not disappointed)! I never used Salamence on my in-game team as I could never be bothered catching a Bagon and training it during the main story; however, after beating the game and receiving a 31/31/31/31/3/31 Naive Salamence over Wonder Trade, I ground myself a Salmence and carry it around with me often.

I wrote this for The Smog a while ago about Mega Salamence's design. Good Pokemon.
I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this. It appears Game Freak has unintentionally created what could be a model for future real-world military aircraft. They've taken Salamence and transformed it into this streamlined, aerodynamic, and determined-looking monstrosity. "**** two wings!" was evidently the thought that was running through the heads of Game Freak's designers, because Mega Salamence now sports only one enormous, razor-sharp wing. I suppose you could say it's a "cutting-edge" flight apparatus.

Mega Salamence is a pretty awesome Pokemon but I'm glad this wasn't given to Dragonite. Can you just imagine getting a dragon dance up with the multi-scale before mega evolving and extreme speeding with aerialate? All in all this could have been a lot more broken than what it is. I kind of feel bad for Tyranitar and Garchomp now since their mega evolutions weren't that much better than their base forms, which is even arguable for Garchomp with it's decreased speed.

Mega Salamence is one of those Megas I'm not a huge fan of the design but the sheer power makes up for what I call a silly design (yeah, that crescent-shaped wing) and as Sun said, 4x Ice weaknesses are there to ensure it's not too broken.

However, competitively it did prove to be too powerful thanks to Aerilate-boosted Return, and in doubles you can add Hyper Voice as well.
