This week our focus will be on another Kanto throwback!

    Mega Pidgeot
    [PokeCommunity.com] Mega Pidgeot

Pidgeot Mega Evolves into Mega Pidgeot. The gusts it can whip up with its tough and well-developed wings are powerful enough to smash huge trees.

Upon Mega Evolving, its Sp. Atk gets a great boost. Take good advantage of its zippy Speed stat, and you can pummel opponents in no time flat. Its No Guard Ability means its attack will never miss—nor will attacks used against it. You can be sure of dealing damage even with moves that have low accuracy.

Thoughts on Mega Pidgeot? Do you like it more or less than its non-mega forme? How do you feel about its design? Before it was announced, had you expected there would be a Mega Pidgeot in ORAS? If so, is it anything like what you expected? Have you used it on your in-game team at all?
Do you have any other thoughts to share?

Oh Mega Pidgeot is one of the better Megas out there - No Guard + Hurricane is an outstanding combo! It's design is absolutely incredible too; I love it's colors, and that long red hair from it's head; ahh, so awesome. <33

Really, it's nothing to laugh at - it does really great in competitive OU too, and in-game it's not so bad either if you manage to get a hold of one!

As Shawn says, the Hurricane and No Guard combo is the best. Heat Wave is also a great move for this big fabulous bird.

It would be great if it learns Hyper Voice, a Special Normal-type move with high base power.

I realized that M-Pidgeot sorta took over Togekiss' role as a Normal/Flying Pokemon with a high S. Atk stat. :')

I'm usually not much of a Pidgeot fan, so I definitely saw this Mega as unexpected. It was cool seeing the original bird get one, but I feel like it should have been handled better because being a high special attacker with an ability that really only benefits two moves (Heat Wave and Hurricane) and not many coverage options besides Hidden Power (aka totally random) makes it easily walled by Rock and Steel-types, and not even getting access to Hyper Voice adds further insult to injury.

You literally are stuck between using Hyper Beam (which makes you a sitting duck), Uproar (which locks you in for a few turns) or Round (lacks power when not used by multiple Pokemon, making it too focused on Doubles/Triples) for a decent special Normal STAB. Definitely one of the worse ORAS Megas to me.

You saying you didn't predict this? XD
I expected a Mega Pidgeot in XY but not in ORAS, I was a bit angry that Swellow didn't get one.

They could have at least make it learn Vacuum Wave.

Mega Pidgeot is a pretty neat Mega Evolution. With the enhanced Sp. Atk and Speed you do some real damage with Hurricane. But that's about it. Mega Pidgeot's rather limited movepool means you're basically always seeming the same Mega Pidgeot as there isn't much else for it to use to attack with other than Hurricane and Heat Wave. Besides, while No Guard gives it a nice way to abuse Hurricane, Pidgeot is pretty much a glass cannon in the face of highly damaging moves that could normally have a chance of missing.

So, neat design but rather underwhelming usage.

I like the fierce design behind Mega Pidgeot, but unfortunately I haven't got around to using it just yet. If I'm honest it kinda came out of nowhere similarly to Mega Slowbro, if anything I'd expect to have seen it revealed this year for the 20th anniversary or something!

Gave Pidgeot a lot more usage, which is always good, but it could have gotten a better ability. It doesn't really utilise No Guard - 70% will still hit the majority of the time and all of it's other moves have at least 90% accuracy. So ability wasted imo.
