    Which do you think is the best?

    1. Which has better stats? (Charizard Y Sp. Attack [pretty good for fire-type attacks+ STAB (Status type advantage bonus)], Charizard X Attack [good for non-fire type attacks charizard can learn+ Move variation])

    2. Which has the better looks?

    3. Overall: Which do you prefer?

    Simply put - Charizard X doesn't have a 4x weakness to rock, and can counter the common ice weakness with its fire typing. This means it doesn't lose 50% of its HP to Stealth rock. Also, while it does have Tough Claws as its ability, which boosts physical moves - Charizard X actually can be a mixed attacker, as it has a 130 base attack AND special attack, while Charizard Y has a base attack of 104, but a base special attack of 159. Also, Charizard Y has drought, which was unfortunately nerfed to only last 5 turns.However, they have the same base HP, and Charizard X has a bulkier physical defense , while Charizard Y has a bulkier special defense. Both pokemon also have the same base speed.

    Against eachother? I think Mega Charizard X would win over Y. Mega Zard Y relies a lot on its drought which boosts its fire attacks, makes solarbeam only 1 turn which can decimate water, rock and ground types. However Mega Zard X is resistant to these attacks while it has STAB dragon attacks to use against Mega Zard Y.

    Against other pokemon, it really depends what they're up against, so I'd call that a draw.

    Better looks: Even though Gamefreak seems to have an undying love for Mega Zard X (pokemon origins, smash bros, etc) I prefer Mega Zard Y. I like its slender, more gracious build while I think the permanent flames out of X's mouth are stupid. I also feel like X's color is an excuse to give the people who wouldn't get a shiny Zard a black one. Also Mega Zard X's shiny color gives it a really ugly greenish color. Not that I totally think the looks of Mega Zard X are bad though.

    Which one I prefer: I've had a shiny Charizard that's EV trained in sp. attack in my team since gen 5. So once I transferred it I kept it in my team as a Mega Charizard Y. I prefer Y over X anytime.

    though to be honest, 252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 272-320 (91.5 - 107.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

    Zard Y CAN ohko X if it gets a high roll... that said, Dragon Pulse is a pretty bad move to use on Zard Y because it prefers Focus Miss or Earthquake.
     
    The thing is that mega Charizard X is the one which was and continues to be the one most promoted between the two of them. That is a fact as of Pokemon Origins(the four episode anime to mainly promote mega evolution). And a most recent example, in the Kalos league, Alain battled Trevor. They both used their Charizard. Each used a different mega evolution. Alain mega evolved his Charizard to the known mega Charizard X and Trevor to mega Charizard Y. Alain's Charizard not only defeated Trevor's Charizard but also managed to defeat all of his pokemon. On one hand, I agree that they want to show how powerful he is. On the other hand, statistically, mega Charizard Y is the one most being most easily used in the end for most as it helps them more. In my opinion, it probably goes with what you are used to and what you prefer. I have mostly used Charizard as a special attacker even before the mega evolutions were announced. However, someone may have used their Charizard as physical sweeper, in which case mega Charizard X might be the one for them. Aesthetically, I love the Char X colour but I definitely prefer Y design.
     
    I think most people prefer charizard x, but I liked y better from the start. It's truer to charizard and I think just fits it better all around. I think charizard y relies more on being a fire type while charizard x relies more on being a dragon type and i would prefer to use the fire part of charizard anyday
     
    They are both my favorite honestly, but I was super jealous of the style and states for Pokemon X Charzaird (I own PokeY).
     
    Black and blue is far cooler than that dull red from the normal Charizard and Mega Y, so I far prefer Mega X. The flames look a little lame, but besides that I think it looks quite a lot cooler.

    Having never used either of them in a game I can't really judge them in that regard.
     
    I really like to use X. Dragon Dance is incredible and X can really utilize it.
