Camerupt's Cameruptite is reacting to Maxie's Mega Glasses!

    Mega Camerupt
    [PokeCommunity.com] Mega Camerupt

The humps on its back have transformed into one large and very active volcano. Magma is constantly bubbling up from within its body. It has a deep hatred of water or any moisture, and has an explosive personality and a short temper. The volcano on its back erupts constantly in an effort to intimidate its foes.

When it Mega Evolves, its Ability changes to Sheer Force. It grows stronger, and any moves that can have additional effects will grow in power—but it's important to keep in mind that they will no longer be able to trigger their additional effects! Most of its stats are uniformly raised, but its Speed does drop. Try to think of strategies based on the likelihood of being second to act in battle.

Thoughts on Mega Camerupt? Do you like it more or less than its non-mega forme? How do you feel about its design? Before it was announced, had you expected there would be a Mega Camerupt in ORAS? If so, is it anything like what you expected? Have you used it on your in-game team at all?
Do you have any other thoughts to share?

Usually I'd use a Trick Room strategy with Mega Camerupt. It's slow, but with Trick room, that can be a blessing! But yeah, I don't use Mega Camerupt often, but I still think it's a really great sweeper, with Sheer Force, it's definitely a force to be reckoned.

    Try it with Rock Polish!

I really loved this Mega, and it was why I wanted to actually use Camerupt in Alpha Sapphire after never giving it much of a shot previously. Sheer Force is a beast ability, especially because it buffs a ton of its Fire-type moves, and even moves like Earth Power or Rock Slide work great with it as well.

Also, the design is totally what I expected for a Mega Camerupt, make it grow a huge volcano spewing lava. I did expect the Mega would happen, alongside Mega Sharpedo thanks to seeing Maxie and Archie have Key Stones.

I usually go full offensive camerupt, which would look like this

    Camerupt (F) @ Cameruptite
    Trait: Solid Rock
    EVs: 168 HP / 252 SAtk / 88 SDef
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Fire Blast
    - Earth Power
    - Ancient Power
    - Will-O-Wisp

Combining this with trick room malamar / cresselia you've got yourself an op cow that hits hard.

With the right build and strategy it would come pretty well. Though it doesn't burn foe or lower stats with earth power. The ability makes flamethrower equivalent of Heatwave or Fire Blast even with Fire Blast and Earth Power is a major brute when use strategically just Trick Room if you have too and aware of that are too slow and killing it instantly with just 2 Aqua Jets.

Though get killed in 2 turns would be possible without rain dance, but just aware of rain dancers out there and it would guaranteed 100% 2HKO (with Life Orb / Expert Belt). I never actually using it since too slow and very frail towards Water-Type which just single hydro pump or surf would end it and 2 aqua jets would hurtful.

Imo, Mega Camerupt was pretty predictable when ORAS was announced--in fact, it's one of the first ones I figured would be in the game when ORAS was announced. Reason being: it's Maxie's main Pokémon, so of course it'd have to get a Mega Evolution.

This is one of the cooler Mega designs--I love the erupting volcano effect. In terms of using it in battle, like Blue Yveltal said, Sheer Force is great for giving it's STAB moves an extra power boost. That alongside some Trick Room support makes it a pretty darn good Pokémon to battle with. Granted, I haven't used it much in the game, but I might give it a try in the Battle Maison some time just to see how it performs.

I used it a few times during my first play-through. I don't like it very much but I do like its design though. It may look a little odd but I still think it looks cool.
